I'm Yvonne K., the breeder behind Superdoodles of San Antonio located in San Antonio, TX. We raise our puppies with total care and attention so they can become well-socialized and loving additions to their forever homes. Our program is focused on producing puppies that are healthy, well-structured, and have outstanding temperaments. We have high expectations for our puppies and strive to place each one in an enriching and loving home!
Q. & A. with Yvonne
Why did you start breeding?
Many people ask us WHY we breed puppies when there are so many dogs available for adoption in the shelters and rescues. We want to say first and foremost, we don’t do it to for the money. We actually have only “purchased” one other dog in our lifetime; all the others were free puppies or strays that came into our lives through various avenues. When our “Hurricane Katrina” lab Daisy found us one day on a walk and passed away after 13 years with us, we weren’t actively “looking” for a new dog (isn’t that how it always happens ) but, we came across some Labradoodles for adoption by a friend of ours who had been breeding for a short time. She, Cerin, was, and still is, the SMARTEST dog (like, you can THINK about going for walk and she will go over and touch her leash). She was easy to train, calm and friendly and we believe it is because the breeder did some of the things we currently do with our pups that helped set the foundation for Cerin to be such a great dog. In comparison to our other dogs in the past, who we loved dearly, but had some training, potty training and various issue, Cerin had no struggles with any of these things.
Because of OUR experience with Cerin, we thought, “other people should have the opportunity to have a dog like this!”. This is when I found out about our Certified Puppy Trainer, Cyndi Smasal and her work with a local Aussiedoodle breeder. She agreed to work with us to develop a puppy enrichment program and hence, “The Superdoodle Program” was born!
