I'm Shannon W., the breeder behind The Dog House located in Mc Bain, MI. German Shepherd‘s are our absolute favorites! This breed has been a part of my life since I was a small child. My children have recently fallen in love with the standard poodle breed. The fact that they are hypoallergenic and do not shed are such a bonus! Both breeds are extremely smart and easy to train. Our dream is to supply people with the best companion, workout partner, or therapist they could ask for! We decided to do a small family breeding to provide families with a well rounded, socialized, and healthy puppy. Puppies are raised with us and our children!

    We love dogs, and starting a breeding program felt like the right decision. We value responsible breeding practices and want to do our part to promote ethical, healthy and breeding with integrity, so that your companion will continue to thrive for many years.

    We are dedicated to always providing our buyers and our puppies with a positive experience, which includes remaining committed to responsible practices when it comes to breeding, training, and rehoming our puppies.

  • What are the different breed sizes in your program?

    Our puppies are standard size. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

    Our puppies include sable, apricot, black, brown, cafe au lait, cream, red, parti, phantom, and brindle. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home and a kennel on my property.

Getting a puppy from Shannon

Price

Puppy prices include a $500 deposit and between $1,000 - $3,000 final payment, before taxes & fees.

"Our price includes a puppy eligible for AKC registration , health guarantee, first rounds of vaccinations from a certified veterinarian, worming, and a small gift to get you started! Nonrefundable but can possibly be transferred to another litter if it’s available."

    I highly recommend working with Shannon if you are thinking on getting a new puppy. She is responsive, flexible, and will go to great lengths to help you and your new family member succeed. She will listen to your concerns and help to prepare the puppy for travel and to acclimate at its new home. For example, by taking them on car rides, letting them sleep in crates, monitoring how much they bark, etc., and most importantly will keep communicating with you for the next few weeks after the final transaction to provide tips and help where she can. It is also worth noting that Shannon will ship the essentials to your home as part of the process, including toys (that my dog still has and adores), which was really appreciated and shows a high level of care for the wellbeing of the puppies she raises. Finally, and most importantly, I need to talk about the puppies. They are great, well-rounded, and loving dogs. Freddo, my dog, absolutely loves children, the water (will eagerly jump into the bathtub during bath time), and is extremely gentle with all dogs and people he meets. He is very healthy, full of energy and life, extremely smart, and the best dog I could have wished for. He turns heads, and everyone we meet, new and old, always comment on how calm and well-behaved he is for his age. You can't go wrong here.

    I can’t say enough great things about Shannon and her dedication to her dogs! I purchased a female poodle who I named Polly last year. We needed another pup to help a current poodle we already had get over the death of her partner. Polly has fit in perfectly! She is bright, loving, very sensitive to our needs and loves our other poodle! My daughter had a baby in July and even when my grandson pulls on her ears or climbs on her she just licks him and lays there by him. Polly is brown with a white spot on her neck. She has a beautiful coat and loves to run and play fetch. If I ever need another Poodle I will seek Shannon out immediately! Shoot I almost took two the first time because they were all so cute and adorable! Pups are raised on a large farm with children who play with them and Shannon always makes sure to begin training on her pups early. I still send her pictures often so she can see how great Polly turned out!

    I purchased a female poodle from Shannon in 2025 that I ended up naming Milly. From Shannon's updates, I could see that she genuinely cared for the puppies and invested significant time in their early development. Milly came home well-socialized, confident, and truly set up for success. She has a wonderful temperament—she learns quickly, socializes well with people and other dogs, and most importantly, she's a loving companion. I'm a six-hour flight away, but that wasn't an issue. Shannon put me in touch with a flight nanny she works with regularly. The flight nanny was fantastic—friendly, communicative, and professional. We made all the arrangements beforehand, and I met her at the airport when she and Milly landed. I could tell Milly was comfortable with her (she was holding Milly like a baby, lol). It was a seamless experience from start to finish. I would highly recommend Shannon to anyone looking for a well-bred, healthy, and happy poodle.

    My wife and I have been married over 50 years and we have never been without a dog. Shannon is easily the best breeder we have dealt with. She personally delivered a gentle, healthy, smart and alert puppy. We still use the puppy blanket Shannon gave us. Shannon is always available for any questions or concerns.
