I'm Ashley H., the breeder behind The Good Doodle located in Kempner, TX. The Good Doodle's breeding philosophy focuses first on health, temperament, and trainability; color is always a bonus. Our goal is to create quality Service Dog candidates, wonderful family pets, and excellent companion dogs.
Q. & A. with Ashley
Why did you start breeding?
I have always had a love for dogs. I have always enjoyed training them, raising them, and just being in their comforting presence. As a disabled veteran, I found myself in the need of a good service dog. I was astounded at how difficult it was to find a good dog suitable for my needs, raised the way I wanted and needed. I decided to change that and I fell in love with what Doodles gave me.
What makes your program special?
I take care of each of the dogs I use in my program. Each of them must fit into our family, pass health testing, be of sound temperament, have good body structure, and be easily trainable. I do not use any dogs that I would not feel comfortable with around my children or greeting my neighbors at the door.
What are the different breed sizes in your program?
Our puppies are standard size. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include sable, black, black and white, tri-color, and phantom. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
Health testing is one key piece of responsible breeding and is performed on breeding dogs to prevent the presence of heritable conditions in their puppies.
