Meet the breeder

I'm Tabitha N., the breeder behind The Velvet Poodle located in Hertford, NC. We are a small, in-home breeding program where we prioritize giving each dog and puppy the best care that we can. We cherish all of our animals and enjoy sharing the love of a puppy with other individuals and families! We start all of our puppies on ENS/ESI to jump start their brains and make them ready for the outside world. The grandkids regularly visit to handle and play with puppies for socialization and we use a puppy culture type program to create confidence.

Q. & A. with Tabitha

  • Why did you start breeding?

My family bred hunting dogs throughout my entire life and I grew up knowing I wanted to create an amazing breeding program of my own; focusing on providing service dogs to veterans and other disabled persons.
  • What makes your program special?

All of my puppies are raised with early neurological stimulation and puppy culture, I offer a contract and health guarantee, I take all puppies for veterinary checks and health certificates and I will always be there to offer support.
  • What are the different breed sizes in your program?

Our puppies are standard size. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include apricot, black, brown, cafe au lait, cream, red, silver, silver-beige, parti, and brindle. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.
