I'm Hunter B., the breeder behind Thousand Lake Retrievers located in Lyman, UT. Our goal is to provide families with happy healthy pups that will excel in the field and home! Each litter produced we are looking at what we can do to improve- whether that is for better drive and temperament or even confirmation and genetic-health quality. We simply want to better the breed!

Why did you start breeding?
We bought our first golden back in the winter of 2020. We fell in love with Lulu! My dream has always been to raise and train hunting dogs since I was a boy. I had a lab or two before but when I got Lulu I knew immediately that this was the direction I wanted to go! I soon learned more about field pedigrees and ofa/genetic health testing and since then directed my focus more in that direction!What makes your program special?
"You don’t have to reinvent the wheel, find something that already works and go with it.” This is exactly our program. Thankfully to good mentors we have been able to follow proven methods and practices that work! Our main focus as a program is this-raise healthy pups who will serve well in both the field and home! Every good hunting dog should be even a better pet! A good off switch is a must!Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home and a kennel on my property.

Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)
Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.
Cardiac Evaluation (registered with OFA)
Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.
