Meet the breeder

I'm Stephanie C., the breeder behind Tidal Wave Danes located in Franklin, NC. If you are looking for a well-rounded Great Dane as a companion or show prospect, you are at the right place. When you get one of our puppies, you will have our support for the life of your Great Dane.

Q. & A. with Stephanie

  • Why did you start breeding?

I've loved the breed forever and found a great show breeder and montor. Now we follow her advice and GDCA recommendations. We have loved the process and enjoy placing puppies with loving, forever families.
  • What makes your program special?

Tidal Wave Danes is a premier breeder of Great Dane dogs. Our focus on structure, conformation, and health brings us to the front of the pack. We are very selective about our breeding dogs. All of our dogs are OFA health tested. The health and temperament of our puppies is our number one priority. We pride ourselves on helping all of our clients find the right fit for their needs and lifestyle.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include brindle, fawn, harlequin, mantle, merle, and black. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.

  • Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)

Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.

  • Cardiac Evaluation (registered with OFA)

Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.

  • Thyroid (Autoimmune Thyroiditis, registered with OFA)

A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
