Meet the breeder

I'm Amanda O., the breeder behind To Love A Doodle located in Peterstown, WV. We are home-based breeders that want to bring healthy, loving, and high-quality puppies into the homes and hearts of their forever families. Our puppies are born in our living room and raised inside our home with our family ensuring they all make wonderful additions to their new forever families.

Q. & A. with Amanda

  • Why did you start breeding?

A friend of mine purchased a Bernedoodle and I instantly fell in love. So, my research began on this breed and I was finally able to find Bonnie, my Miniature Bernedoodle. While at the vet for Bonnie’s first checkup, my vet encouraged me to consider breeding her. I have 2 rescues so the jump to breeding was a decision not taken lightly. I began speaking with other breeders, completing genetic testing, learning all I could both good and bad and finally decided it was a journey I wanted to take.
  • What makes your program special?

All of my dogs live inside my home and often sleep in my bed. They are true family pets. They are all health tested, even my rescues. I have only one breeding female so I’m able to devote plenty of individual time with each puppy. My puppies are also raised using Puppy Culture curriculum which I believe gives them the best possible start.
  • What are the different breed sizes in your program?

Our puppies include mini and medium sizes. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include tri-color, phantom, and merle. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

We purchased Sawyer, our Mini Berniedoodle from Amanda in November of 2024. Amanda was so easy to work with and very knowledgeable. I’ve called her a few times about Sawyer and she has always had good advice. She definitely loves her dogs!

Amanda is amazing. Very responsive and thorough. She did her due diligence to ensure the puppy was going to a good home and she took such good care of our pup until it was time to pick her up. She provided well-organized paperwork and up-to-date vet records, along with a puppy care package for the ride home and the adjustment period. We also got regular updates with puppy photos prior to our pick up. We remain in touch and I am returning the favor by sending occasional pup photos.

To Love A Doodle, Amanda and her family, birth mother and father Bonnie and Otis are wonderful! We are so in love with our Charley. We went into this pretty blind (though we are experienced dog owners and were appropriately interviewed by Amanda) and feel like we totally lucked out. I had no idea that such young puppies are raised with a curriculum - and here we were , so proud we taught him sit immediately! - and he is so easy to train! (And issues with training in this household are operator error, not puppy error!). But it's Charley's personality that is unbelievable - he is the most joyful dog I've ever met! Amanda was a pleasure to work with, has always been very eager to help us as questions come up and truly loves all her fur babies!

I just wanted to take a moment to thank Amanda for the beautiful Berneddodle puppy we brought home. You clearly put a lot of care and attention into ensuring she is not only a great representative of the breed, but also so sweet and well-tempered. We can see the love and dedication to raising the best pups. Nala is also so smart. She already knew basic commands and is adjusting really well to our family’s routines. We are so grateful to have found such a wonderful addition to our family!
