I'm Wendy P., the breeder behind Toiyabe Rhodesian Ridgebacks located in Reno, NV. Rhodesian Ridgebacks are not for the faint of heart. They are aloof, independent thinkers that like to be part of a pack. They are only interested in doing things if there is something in it for them. Positive reinforcement training is the only way to go with this breed. I strive to breed dogs that are healthy, even tempered and conformationally correct. I love every one of my dogs and try to ensure that they go to the best homes. I am a member of the Rhodesian Ridgeback Club of the U.S. (RRCUS) and of the Bay Area Rhodesian Ridgeback Club (BARRC) and follow their rules and guidelines for ethical and responsible breeding.
Q. & A. with Wendy
Why did you start breeding?
I have been showing Rhodesian Ridgebacks in conformation and performance for over 10 years. Six years ago I had my first litter from which I kept two girls. One of them has become a Grand Champion Silver with both her and her mother earning Reserve Best in Shows.
What makes your program special?
I am a hobby breeder and only have a litter when I think I have an exceptional girl that has the conformation and temperament to better the breed through her offspring.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.
