Meet the breeder

I'm Shannon S., the breeder behind True Joy Bernedoodles and French bulldogs located in Lakeside, CA. We cherish each of our dogs and puppies, and we do everything we can to make sure that they get the best lives possible. That includes everything from choosing healthy parents with good temperaments, to proper socialization and daily care, to placing them in loving homes with wonderful families.

Q. & A. with Shannon

  • Why did you start breeding?

We started breeding in 2018. Winston was our first Frenchie and Hazel our first Bernedoodle. We fell in love with the breeds. We love the fact that Bernedoodles are hypoallergenic and to low/no shedding Their demeanor, both are always just super love bugs and sweethearts. That is when we started to breed to share the absolute love and True Joy these little babies give.
  • What makes your program special?

Our program is very special in a way our frenchies and doodles are bred for good DNA lines through Animal Genetics and all our frenchies are registered through AKC. This lets families follow their lineage. We never kennel our Frenchies or Bernedoodles They are all free to roam and socialize within our residence. The puppies when born are placed in an incubator when not with mama.
  • What are the different breed sizes in your program?

Our Bernedoodle puppies are mini size. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our Bernedoodle puppies include black and white, tri-color, blue merle, and merle. French Bulldog puppies include cream, fawn, blue, and black and tan. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

We couldn't be happier with our experience adding a new Frenchie to our family with Shannon and Paul at True Joy French Bulldogs. They were very responsive and accommodating with us. Once we had committed to a puppy, they sent us wonderful updates about his progress and development. It was a wonderful experience, and our new addition is absolutely perfect! He is a happy, healthy, and very fun guy!
