I'm Katherine & Terry G., the breeder behind Tupelo Honey Farm's Golden Retrievers located in Westminster, MD. Terry and I have always loved Golden Retrievers for their gentle nature, loyalty, and joy for life. We have a beautiful home and farm and together we are putting our hearts into raising puppies who are healthy, well-socialized, and ready to become cherished members of their forever families. Ellie has had the following OFA (Orthopedic Foundation for Animals) evaluations completed. Required OFA tests Hip & Elbow Dysplasia: Evaluated by an OFA cardiologist, with permanent certification requiring the dog to be at least 24 months old. Cardiac Evaluation: A cardiologist must perform a heart examination, that did include an echocardiogram. Eye Examination: An annual eye exam by a boarded ACVO ophthalmologist. PennHIP: An additional hip evaluation to the OFA standard. DNA testing: Recommended for genetic conditions, such as NCL, Ichthyosis, and others, to avoid breeding two carriers together - completed through Embark. OFA Patella: Recommended for assessing the knees and OFA Dentition: Checks for a full set of correct teeth. Working with Lori at Promise Land Goldens helped us determine which sire would be the best match with Ellie.

  • Why did you start breeding?

    We did some research and then reached out to a breeder near us and began asking questions -- Promise Land LLC has been instrumental to our success! The guidance, information, support that Lori has provide Terry and I has been priceless!

  • What makes your program special?

    We are a family who loves animals especially our dogs -- much care, organization, attention, and dedication are given to every aspect of our lives!

  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

    Our puppies are light golden. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Puppy prices include a $750 non-refundable deposit and between $2,250 - $2,750 final payment, before taxes & fees.

  • Hip Dysplasia

    Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.

  • Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)

    Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.

  • Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)

    Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.

  • Cardiac Evaluation (registered with OFA)

    Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.

  • Vet Wellness Exam

    A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.

    Katherine and Terry were so responsive and a pleasure to work with. They were very knowledgeable and prepared to care for the puppies as they arrived. They allowed us to visit and see the great care they were taking as well as allow a puppy to choose us in the visit. They stayed in touch and sent updated pictures and videos. They allowed us to name our puppy and they used that name in talking with her. They took her for her first appt to get microchip, vaccines, and registered. We chose a date and time for pick up and using Good Dog to pay was secure and easy. I would not hesitate to recommend Katherine and Terry. We have been enjoying our puppy who we have had home for two weeks and she is already potty trained, eating well, and sleeping most of the night.
