Meet the breeder

I'm Valerie M., the breeder behind Valaurah Farms located in Springfield, OR. As a dedicated breeder of Standard Poodles, my goal is to produce exceptional puppies that meet a wide range of needs—from service and sport to conformation and family companionship. Each litter is thoughtfully planned with versatility in mind, aiming to place puppies in roles where they can truly thrive. Our breeding dogs are not only extensively health tested to meet and exceed CHIC standards, but they’re also proven in both conformation and performance arenas, with titles that reflect their quality, structure, and drive.

Q. & A. with Valerie

  • Why did you start breeding?

When my mom's golden retriever died in 2015, we went searching for her a new puppy. I was struck by the difficulty in finding a well-bred, healthy companion. We eventually settled on a Standard Poodle, instead of a golden. I FELL in love & the rest is history. I started learning as much as I could & dove into the science of breeding. I studied everything I could on properly raising puppies.
  • What makes your program special?

We have been in operation for several years now & have generational health testing behind our puppies. Our proven record of putting health first has created a line of healthy companions guaranteed to live a long life. Our puppies receive so much care & love during early development that their transition to their new life is easy. They are ready & eager to take on the world with their new family.
  • What are the different breed sizes in your program?

Our puppies include moyen and standard sizes. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include sable, apricot, black, blue, brown, cafe au lait, cream, red, silver-beige, white, parti, phantom, and brindle. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

They live in my home and guardian homes.

Very well! Valerie met us in Vancouver with Cygnet. The hand-off went smoothly. Now we are enjoying our new family member, and she is enjoying us.

We had been been researching puppies for awhile and when we came across Valaurah Farms things started making sense. We were able to ask questions and feel confident that the puppy we got fit our family. When the puppies were born we followed along while Valerie prepared the puppies to be able to handle the stresses of life. When we pick out boy we knew he would be a perfect fit. We love our puppy and get nothing but compliments on how smart, calm and friendly our puppy is. I can confidently say our next dog will also be from Valaurah farms.
