Meet the breeder

I'm Valerie M., the breeder behind Valaurah Farms located in Springfield, OR. As a dedicated breeder of Standard Poodles, my goal is to produce exceptional puppies that meet a wide range of needs—from service and sport to conformation and family companionship. Each litter is thoughtfully planned with versatility in mind, aiming to place puppies in roles where they can truly thrive. Our breeding dogs are not only extensively health tested to meet and exceed CHIC standards, but they’re also proven in both conformation and performance arenas, with titles that reflect their quality, structure, and drive.

Q. & A. with Valerie

  • Why did you start breeding?

When my mom's golden retriever died in 2015, we went searching for her a new puppy. I was struck by the difficulty in finding a well-bred, healthy companion. We eventually settled on a Standard Poodle, instead of a golden. I FELL in love & the rest is history. I started learning as much as I could & dove into the science of breeding. I studied everything I could on properly raising puppies.
  • What makes your program special?

We have been in operation for several years now & have generational health testing behind our puppies. Our proven record of putting health first has created a line of healthy companions guaranteed to live a long life. Our puppies receive so much care & love during early development that their transition to their new life is easy. They are ready & eager to take on the world with their new family.
  • What are the different breed sizes in your program?

Our puppies include moyen and standard sizes. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include sable, apricot, black, blue, brown, cafe au lait, cream, red, silver-beige, white, parti, phantom, and brindle. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

They live in my home and guardian homes.

I was searching for a well bred standard for a while now and valerie was amazing! She’s very responsive and provided all the details i needed to know! She goes above and beyond with her health testing. The pick up was great! She met us in Sacramento since i live a bit far. My new baby Martini (previously squash) is such a gorgeous puppy. I would 100% recommend everyone to Valaurah Farms.

Valerie was very professional, responsive and kind. She answered all our questions and was very welcoming. We were very impressed by all the support and information she provided. The fact that she carefully evaluates her puppies to see what their strengths are was a confidence builder for us to know that both we and our puppy would be set up for a successful life together. It’s not just about picking a puppy because it’s cute. It’s about matching the dog with the lifestyle of the people. Valerie also went out of her way after a long day to chat with us about her process and was very kind when we needed to wait a bit before deciding to get a puppy. Once we did make our decision, the process and communication were excellent. Our puppy is beautiful and came with lots of goodies to get her started. I have already recommended Valaurah Farms to friends. And the Good Dog app is great.

Start to finish bringing home my boy has been an incredible experience, getting for a service dog has been something I've needed for a long time and Valerie was amazing to work with and paired me with the perfect match. I felt so taken care of through the entire process.

Valerie was great. She is very knowledgeable about the breed and does her best to support new owners. She has been very responsive with questions and helped guide us to a puppy that had the perfect temperament for our home. We love our new family member. He is a happy, healthy addition and should we ever decide to grow our family again I will definitely seek Valerie out.

I cannot say enough good things about Valaurah farms' breeding program. Valerie is responsive, friendly, and very knowledgeable. Our puppy is happy, healthy, and thriving. They clearly gave her a great start at kennel training and house training. Valerie provided regular updates throughout the process with pics and videos. All of that is wonderful, but any breeder *should* provide those things. What makes valaurah farms' program truly outstanding is their temperament testing/puppy picking process. It is clearly very important to Valerie to match the right pup with the right family. Very impressive and unique. We are head over heels for our new puppy, whom we have named Calypso "Callie"
