Meet the breeder

I'm Gloria K., the breeder behind Vaquera's Miniature American Shepherds located in San Benito, TX. We hold ourselves to the highest standard when it comes to our dogs and our policies. We take responsible breeding very seriously. Our program was built with care and intention in every step. We are passionate about the health and wellbeing of this breed, and we want our program to be an example of how to responsibly breed high-quality, healthy dogs.

Q. & A. with Gloria

  • Why did you start breeding?

Although we had used Australian Shepherds on the ranch for years, we needed a smaller dog that could tolerate travel and living in an urban environment. We bought our first Mini and fell in love. They have the heart and soul of a bigger dog in a smaller package.
  • What makes your program special?

We breed for our personal hobby and that is a show quality dog. Although we may only keep one or two as show prospects, the remaining puppies that go to pet homes are many times superb specimens.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.
