I'm Kyle J., the breeder behind Vom Haus Highlands located in Augusta, WV. Vom Haus Highlands is a small breeder of high quality working line German Shepherds. All dogs selected for our breeding program have undergone rigorous health and temperament screening. We have hand selected and imported our dogs based on their outstanding temperaments and workability from Europe. Our goal is to provide well rounded healthy dogs with outstanding temperament’s. Our puppies start their Biosensor training on day three and we raise them using the latest puppy culture techniques. Our pups are suitable for a wide range of disciplines to include but not be limited to service/emotional support dogs, family/personal protection, search and rescue (SAR), high level competition, police/military and breeding programs. All our puppies are born and raised on our 50 acre homestead located in the scenic Potomac highlands of eastern West Virginia. All our dogs and puppies are family and treated as such. We offer on site pickup and shipping anywhere in the United States. International import and export services also available.

  • Why did you start breeding?

    I got into breeding because I wanted to share this remarkable breed and my knowledge with others. I have seen firsthand the importance of health testing, sound temperament’s, making decisions based on improving the breed and providing the absolute best puppy and service I can to my clients.

  • What makes your program special?

    My breeding program is special because I put my dogs and clients first. My mission is to provide my dogs with the best life possible and to provide my clients with the best puppy and experience I can. When you choose us you become a part of our extended family! Each puppy that I raise has a special place in my heart and take’s with it all the love and joy that I have put in.

  • What are the different breed coat types in your program?

    Our puppies have stock coats. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

    Our puppies include sable, black, black and tan, and bi-color. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Getting a puppy from Kyle

Kyle has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready to reach out, feel free to ask any questions about the breed, their program, or specific puppies.

Puppy prices include a $500 refundable deposit and between $2,000 - $4,500 final payment, before taxes & fees.

“Average price is $3500-$4000 including a $500 deposit. Includes deworming, vaccinations, vet check, early socialization, crate/house training, microchip, puppy starter kit, Pre paid AKC registration and health guarantee. Pick’s are determined on the order in which deposits have been received and the temperament/projected life style of the pup. Deposit is only refundable if I as the breeder back out of the sale.”

  • Hip Dysplasia

    Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.

  • Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)

    Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.

  • Temperament Test

    A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.

  • Degenerative Myelopathy (DM; SOD1A)

    Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).

    Absolutely the BEST experience – Kyle is a gem and Sefi is our dream dog! From my very first inquiry, Kyle put me at ease and was very responsive to all my questions. He answered every single question (and trust me, we had a LOT) with patience, honesty, and genuine excitement. He sent photos and videos so I could watch the puppies play. No pressure, no rush—just pure passion for what he does. Kyle is what every breeder should be. He puts his dogs first and his priority is breeding healthy puppies with excellent temperaments. Sefi is an outstanding dog. Her temperament is excellent! She is calm, very affectionate, intelligent, and a quick learner. She is confident and curious. Not shy at all. Clearheaded with strong nerves, not startled easily. She has a strong prey drive and loves to play tug and loves to shake and squeak her squeaky toys. But when I say it’s time to go outside or whatever she listens and stops whatever she’s doing. She has great focus and loyalty to me. She follows me everywhere and is not happy when I go into another room without her, lol. She is social and friendly to newcomers. We will see how her loyalty and protectiveness develops as she gets older. She plays well with our two the Corgis, but doesn’t let them overpower her. She is sound with a strong character. Kyle was very easy to work with regarding the purchase and transport of Sefi. She arrived happy and healthy. If you’re looking for a German Shepherd puppy raised with love, knowledge, and integrity, RUN to Kyle. He’s the best!     Kyle was an absolute joy to work with! He was so so helpful answering any questions I had and responding promptly. I was nervous as this was my first time getting a dog from a breeder, and a GSD nonetheless, but Kyle couldn’t have made it easier for me and made me feel comfortable throughout the whole process. He was extremely accommodating as well, I had a few mishaps with my flight home and he was still able to work out a time to be able to pick up my new puppy since I had wanted her as soon as possible! He is very knowledgeable and it’s clear he cares so much about what he does and his dogs and puppies.     Kyle was very easy to work with. The puppy we received is very intelligent and full of energy. He is fitting right in with our home.
