I'm Della W., the breeder behind Von Della Haus located in Roscoe, IL. I believe in only breeding healthy, sable minded dogs so the families who get one will enjoy them for their whole life. I take great pride in the quality of pups I produce and the lives they lead in their forever homes.
Q. & A. with Della
Why did you start breeding?
I took one of my German Shepherds to class when I was 20 years old. Turned out the trainer was also a dog show judge. His wife was a veterinarian and they owned a 200-acre animal reserve for injured and orphaned wild animals. They loved the dog I had so much that they imported a male from Germany to breed her with, just so they could have one of her pups. I started volunteering my time to help.
What makes your program special?
I love my dogs as much as anyone who loves their dogs. I don't breed dogs just to breed them, I breed them only for the love of the German Shepherd breed and only breed to better the breed. There are too many bad breeders and I have always strived to breed the best of the breed.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

Von Della Haus reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for German Shepherds.
Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Brucellosis, Canine Good Citizen (CGC)
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
DNA Profile
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
