I'm Debra W., the breeder behind Warwick’s Central California Goldens located in Fresno, CA. While our goal is to share loving puppies with families, we are still a selective program. We only breed when we’re sure we can produce the healthiest and best example of the breed possible. Our puppies are hand raised and loved in our home and from day 3-16 we administer ENS for healthy pups.
Q. & A. with Debra
Why did you start breeding?
We lost our first Golden at 2 years of age. Best dog ever but had massive health issues. At that point I never wanted anyone else to experience the heartbreak that we went through losing our girl. This got me started with learning about Golden’s and then doing my best to breed healthy and well adapted puppies for other families to love and experience the joy of a Healthy Golden puppy.
What makes your program special?
We put love into our babies and every puppy family becomes part of our family. We keep track of the puppies and become very close with each and every one of our puppies. I’m always there to give support and also share any information that I have learned if there is ever a concern and I have even baby sat for families when they have taken vaccinations and needed a safe environment for their babies
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include dark golden, golden, and light golden. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

Breeder-Reported Testing
Good level
Warwick’s Central California Goldens reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for Golden Retrievers.
Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)
Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.
Cardiac Evaluation (registered with OFA)
Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.
Ichthyosis, Golden Retriever Type
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
DNA Disease Panel, PRA, Golden Retriever 2, PRA, Golden Retriever 1

I'm very happy with the puppy (Lizzy) we got from Debbie. This is my 6th golden and 5th one I raised as a puppy. Lizzy is by far the easiest puppy I’ve raised and I attribute it to the early socialization she received and her temperment. She likes all people, birds, dogs and cats. Also not afraid of loud noises including fireworks. In looking back at the evaluation of Lizzy performed by Debbie, it turned out to be pretty close to her current personality. I would say that Debbie raises some quality Golden Retrievers.

Debra made our decision so easy! We had been searching for a sweet golden retriever with no luck (other breeders demanded payment upfront before even discussing details). Debra's post about Whaler not only described his personality, behavior, and size but also resonated with us deeply. Upon contacting her, Debra immediately jumped on the phone, and we felt instantly at ease. She even shared heartwarming photos and videos of Whaler interacting with her grandbaby, which sealed the deal for us—he would be joining our growing family.
Debra arranged for Whaler's flight nanny who flew him to us in Chicago, and his transition into our home was seamless, thanks to her thoughtful care; it was as if she treated him like one of her own puppies. Debra also shipped a box filled with Whaler's toys and bones, and has stayed in touch regularly since then. Needless to say, we're now devoted fans of Warwick CenCal! Thank you, Debra, for everything!
Health testing is one key piece of responsible breeding and is performed on breeding dogs to prevent the presence of heritable conditions in their puppies.
