I'm Margaret S., the breeder behind Whistler's Farm located in Luttrell, TN. Our dogs are excellent hunting companions, we strive to continue providing the gentle(wo)man's hunting companion. Our goal is to breed a truly dual purpose Gordon that will excel in the field and in the show ring. Our reason behind breeding is the betterment and preservation of this amazing breed.
Q. & A. with Margaret
Why did you start breeding?
I got into Gordon Setters because we raise quail. We kept delivering birds to field trials and it got me interested in bird dogs. I wanted one with an off switch though. My dad had 4 Gordon's and I fell in love with them. They are considered a rare breed and I have decided to breed because I am in LOVE with them and don't want them to go extinct.
What makes your program special?
We take pride in health testing our dogs, working them in the field and ring to truly showcase their versatility of a dual bred Gordon Setter. First and foremost, they must be a loyal family companion, talent comes second. When the show or hunting season is over, I want my dogs to be a wonderful companion in the home.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

Nessie, mom
Gordon Setter
About Nessie
Nessie is a bold dog in the field with plenty of style and race. She is a natural retriever and marks a bird like a retriever. She is confident in her nose and to date has not had a non-producing point. If she points, there is a bird. She is excelling in AKC Hunt tests, field trials, NAVHDA, AKC Conformation (currently has 10 of 16 pts towards her CH at 14 months old) and focusing on wild birds for the 2022/2023 season. Her sire is an accomplished grouse dog, which we don't have the same opportunity in Eastern NC, but we do have woodcock.
She is a lovely female with a very calm disposition in the house, she has a regal manner about her. She loves to be with her people and receive attention but is not obnoxious about having to be in your lap.
