Meet the breeder

I'm Kathy W., the breeder behind Wildhorn Kennel located in Paonia, CO. Our goldens are bred with love and backed by comprehensive health screenings and temperament testing to ensure healthy and active pups. Our adult dogs are titled and in active AKC and UKC/HRC field competitions both at local and national levels, and my husband judges in both venues.

Q. & A. with Kathy

  • Why did you start breeding?

Our foundation male golden was sought out for stud services by members of our retriever club and we've always had stud dogs since. We now have the great granddaughter of that stud who has just had her first litter after getting her Master Hunter, Hunting Retriever Champion and WCX titles completed last year at age of 3.
  • What makes your program special?

The dogs we breed are our family and our life. We relocated from Denver to a 40 acre farm with multiple ponds snd training groubds all for the betterment of the dogs' lives and field training.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include dark golden and golden. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.
