Meet the breeder

I'm Bing C., the breeder behind Wildsong Farm located in Cochecton, NY. Wildsong is a regenerative food forest farm and Nature retreat center. Our Maremmas are working dogs, protecting our ducks & geese. We are dedicated to breeding healthy, happy working Maremmas. To give our puppies the best start, we keep them for 12 weeks and raise them with Puppy Culture protocols.

Q. & A. with Bing

  • Why did you start breeding?

The two original Maremmas we purchased to protect our livestock have been such a joy, and so effective at keeping predators out, that we wanted to continue with Maremmas long after our first ones' natural lifespans. We've also learned that dogs learn best from their environment, from birth. So we initially decided to breed them for the success of our own farm.
  • What makes your program special?

We are dedicated to breeding healthy, happy working Maremmas. To give our puppies the best start, we keep them for a minimum of 12 weeks. During that time, we train, socialize, and implement Dr Carmen Battaglia's neurological stimulation protocol. And they learn from their parents in the field. We raise our dogs amongst poultry - especially geese and ducks.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies are white. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

They live in my home and a kennel on my property.

  • Hip Dysplasia

Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.

  • Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)

Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.

  • Vet Wellness Exam

A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
