I'm Chrystal M., the breeder behind Willow Oak Farm Golden Retrievers located in Seagrove, NC. Willow Oak Farm Golden retrievers are AKC Registered, OFA tested, and DNA tested.
We continue to test and study to ensure that we are raising healthy, well adjusted Golden Retrievers. We raise my dogs in our home and in my kennel connected to my home. We have had a Golden in our life for 25 years.
Q. & A. with Chrystal
Why did you start breeding?
I have had a passion for golden retrievers for over 25 years. I decided to breed golden retrievers after talking with my Dad one day. He told me he had never had a dog that was just his. He was worried that at 76 he was too old. I told him that a golden is the perfect dog for him. So I decided to raise a litter and give Dad his very own Golden Retriever. Now they are inseparable.
What makes your program special?
I like to keep my pups at least 10 weeks and take them to two vet visits so tat they receive two rounds of vaccines before they go to their new homes. Plus it gives Mom a little more time to spend with them and teach them some things. I microchip my pups before they go home. I do training with them to help them adjust t their new families. I also continue to support my families after the pups leave.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include dark golden, golden, and light golden. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.
