I'm Michael W., the breeder behind Winterton Farm & Homestead located in Anita, IA. We are a home-based breeder dedicated to bringing healthy, smart, and quality Corgis into the world. We raise between one and two litters per year and raise our puppies in our home. Our dogs are family.

Q. & A. with Michael
Why did you start breeding?
Responsible, ethical breeders play an important role in the future of the dog ecosystem as guardians for the future of the breed they work with. We want to do our part to better the breed. Our breeding program strives to maintain the unique characteristics of the corgi while providing families with the ultimate family pet.
What makes your program special?
All of our dogs are health tested prior to being bred so we can ensure that we are producing quality puppies. We love the Corgi breed and are dedicated to looking out for the breed as a whole. We know the health and status of every dog I have bred and am proud of the temperament and conformation of our puppies. I can provide extensive knowledge and guidance for any family looking at one of our dogs.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include fawn, red, sable, white and red, and black and tan. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

We picked up our puppy from Michael 2 weeks ago. We are so happy with the way it all worked out. Michael was great throughout the process. All questions quickly answered and through information shared along the way. Coordinating pickup was so easy and all the bonus items were great to have. A substantial amount of food, toys, a leash plus other bonus items. Can’t believe how well adjusted the puppy is already. That speaks volumes about how he was raised the first few months and what he learned from his litter mates and his parents.
If you are thinking about a puppy from the Winterton Farm you’ve got a winner.

Met with Michael for pickup as scheduled. They were thorough in their description, care and immediate future needs for the little guy. I was impressed with the overall process and their responsiveness to my questions and plans for pickup. Puppy was friendly, well adjusted, box trained and a complete joy. No issues on the way home, puppy was happy to ride and did well at all the rest stops.

Working with Winterton Farm & Homestead was a fantastic experience. They are an extremely knowledgeable and responsible breeder and took their time to answer all of our questions as well as provided all the details for our new Pembroke Welsh Corgi. We have Franklin, formerly Peep, from their Easter litter. He is smart as a whip and has such a fun big personality. We purchased bells for the back door for potty training, within two days he got it down and was ringing to go out to potty.
