I'm Barbara B., the breeder behind Woolf Spirit Danes located in Rockford, IL. Our program strives to breed to the breed standard. We breed for conformation, health, and temperament. Our dogs are family first and foremost and we hope to place dogs in homes that will love them as we do. We do what we can to better the Great Dane breed.
Q. & A. with Barbara
Why did you start breeding?
When I worked in animal rescue, I saw that it was often poorly breed dogs who ended up in the shelter system due to health or behavioral issues. I wanted to do my part to provide healthy, stable dogs to families that would love them.
What makes your program special?
We put an emphasis on health and temperament of our dogs. We breed for longevity and solid, family dogs.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include blue and harlequin. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home and guardian homes.

Getting a puppy from Barbara
Barbara has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready to reach out, feel free to ask any questions about the breed, their program, or specific puppies.
Together, you’ll choose the puppy that’s right for you, stay in touch with regular updates, and plan how to bring your new puppy home.
Price
Puppy prices include a $500 refundable deposit and between $2,000 - $3,000 final payment, before taxes & fees.
“The price includes a health guarantee for two years for preventable genetic issues. A replacement puppy from a future litter will be offered. Puppies will be evaluated at the age of 6 weeks and at that time it will be decided which puppies are Show Prospects and which puppies will be made available to companion homes.
Once those decisions are made, I will contact potential homes from the waiting list and at that time a deposit will be requested.”

Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)
Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.
Cardiac Evaluation (registered with OFA)
Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.
Thyroid (Autoimmune Thyroiditis, registered with OFA)
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
Health testing is one key piece of responsible breeding and is performed on breeding dogs to prevent the presence of heritable conditions in their puppies.
