Meet the breeder

I'm Nikki L., the breeder behind WyldeWater Tollers located in Indiana. I have had dogs since childhood but first only as pets. I rode horses competitively when I was younger. I moved to dogs after graduate school, specifically Springers. I worked with Springer rescue, fostering dozens and dozens of dogs. I trained in obedience and the field with my rescue dogs I got in to show dogs through a generous breeder. In Springers, I kept, showed and worked with my dogs. Their breeder had final say on all breeding decisions. When my youngest wanted to show a dog but wanted something other than a Springer, the search began. After a lot of research, we landed on Tollers and never looked back. While no breed is perfect for everyone, Tollers are perfect for us. First and foremost, we try to breed a biddable, smart and pretty dog. Our dogs are all house dogs, I won't breed a dog that I can't live with. Temperament is job one. Our Tollers compete in the conformation ring, field, obedience and rally.

Q. & A. with Nikki

  • Why did you start breeding?

Our first Toller was my daughter's juniors dog and is pictured on this site. Our family fell so madly in love with the breed. We have started breeding to preserve and improve upon Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retrievers. It is an honor to represent this breed and create opportunities for others to experience them.
  • What makes your program special?

We strive to breed healthy, quality pups that will become members of your family. Tollers are intelligent and loving but can be stubborn. They are not for everyone. We take pride in raising well-tempered and socialized puppies who can excel in every venue and as beloved companions. We will share my breed knowledge and guidance for any family looking to adopt one of these wonderful dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include red gold and red. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.
