I'm Janet S., the breeder behind Yup's Havanese located in Ocala, FL. We breed and show our dogs out of a love for and dedication to the protection and betterment of the breed. As breeders, we are stewards of the future of our breed, so we are careful to always maintain ethical breeding practices. This includes proper health testing, intentional breeding for specific traits, and raising our puppies with proper socialization.

Why did you start breeding?
When my son was around 6 he wanted a dog. We got our first Havanese and began showing. He is 33 now....What makes your program special?

Getting a puppy from Janet
Janet has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready, reach out to ask about the puppies or anything else on your mind. You’ll get to know each other through messaging, phone, or video and pay securely, all on Good Dog.
Janet partners with buyers to find the best match as the puppies develop and their personalities take shape. Typically, matches are finalized when the puppies reach about 6 weeks old.

Deposit & Selection Order A $500 deposit reserves your place in our puppy selection order. Families select in the order deposits are received, within the puppies available and suitable for their home. Your deposit is applied toward the purchase price. Temperament Comes First As our puppies grow, I observe their personalities, confidence, energy levels, and interactions. These observations help guide our matching process. Selection takes place once I’ve had time to get to know each puppy, with temperament and compatibility guiding the final match. Male or Female Preference Please let me know whether you prefer a male or female, or are open to either. I’ll consider your preference alongside deposit order and temperament. A deposit does not guarantee a particular sex or an individual puppy; availability and a suitable match must also be considered. Choosing Together I want you to feel involved and excited throughout the process! We’ll discuss your household, daily routine, other pets, and what you’re hoping for in a companion. Together, we’ll use those details to help choose the right puppy for you. Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Eye Examination (rDVM, not registered with OFA), Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)
Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.
Cardiac Evaluation (rDVM, not registered with OFA)
Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.
Patellar Luxation
Knee testing reduces the chance of passing down Patellar Luxation, which results in the kneecap becoming displaced or dislocated and can cause mild to severe joint pain.
Congenital Deafness (BAER, registered with OFA)
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
