I'm Laura C., the breeder behind Zira's Pride Rhodesian Ridgebacks located in Springfield, AR. We decided to start our own kennel after falling in love with the breed with our first dog, Kovu. We will start having puppies in the future once we get our girl health tested and approved. We will be showing Zira, but our main buyers that are interested are hunters.
Q. & A. with Laura
Why did you start breeding?
We have fell in love with the breed owning a RR and we wanted a way to create our own line and have a dog that a person can be proud of like we are. We wanted to create our own line of working dogs because we don't believe that a working dog breed should be prancing around a ring only.
What makes your program special?
We specialize in hunting dogs. We make sure all health testing is conducted and we make sure we only breed the best of the best. Please be patient with us as we breed our kennel and our bloodline. We promise it will be worth the wait!
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.
Cardiac Evaluation (rDVM, not registered with OFA)
Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.
Thyroid (Autoimmune Thyroiditis, registered with OFA)
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
