Meet the breeder

I'm Linda L., the breeder behind Zodiac Ranch located in Milford, MI. I have been a Buhund breeder since 1997. All my breeding stock have been checked for hip dysplasia, and their eyes are checked yearly for cataracts, and the results of these tests are recorded with OFA. Most of my breeding stock are AKC Champions. I Have been a member and approved breeder with the Norwegian Buhund Club of America for many years.

Why did you start breeding?
I have always had an interest in breeding, and one of my greatest joys is helping new families find their perfect soulmate.
What makes your program special?
I have strived to breed for hardiness and good temperaments. I have imported 3 different males from Europe over the years, to help expand our gene pool. I have mentored several new breeders along the way, and am proud to see their accomplishments in breeding and the show ring.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies are wheaten. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home and a kennel on my property.

Getting a puppy from Linda

Linda has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready, reach out to ask about the puppies or anything else on your mind. You’ll get to know each other through messaging, phone, or video and pay securely, all on Good Dog.

Linda partners with buyers to find the best match as the puppies develop and their personalities take shape. Typically, matches are finalized when the puppies reach about 7 weeks old.

“How do you know which puppy you will get? Since most buyers live far away, and I am familiar with the puppies personalities, I like to pick which puppy goes to which family. When the pups are about 7-8 weeks old, their personalities are starting to develop. I discuss with each family, what characteristics are important to you in your future pet, and match the puppy with your expectations. ”

Price

Puppy prices include a $400 non-refundable deposit and between $1,600 - $2,100 final payment, before taxes & fees.

“I normally charge $200 for pet males, $2250 for pet females, and $2500 for all show prospect/breeding puppies. This includes AKC registration, deworming, first vaccination, vet check, and microchip. In some cases the deposit may be refundable. When a family's application is reviewed and they are approved for a puppy, we accept a deposit that will hold a puppy until it is ready to go to its home. If for some reason we are not able to supply a puppy from a particular litter we can either save the deposit for the next litter, or refund the deposit.”

Linda may provide a written contract or health guarantee when you purchase a puppy. This helps protect both you and your breeder, ensuring that you both have a clear understanding of the terms of your puppy purchase. Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)
Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.
