Website & Internet Questions

Read answers to breeder FAQs about managing your internet presence and ensuring your information and content is protected.

1. Someone is stealing pictures and/or content from my website. What can I do?

You can contact the website host and request that the pictures and/or content be removed from the perpetrator’s website. See our article -- Have you ever had your pictures or website content stolen? -- for step-by-step instructions on how this can be done. You might also consider watermarking your pictures and/or content and disabling right-clicking of images on your website in order to further protect yourself and your content.

2. Are there ways to protect my breeding program from online scams generally?

Absolutely. We recommend watching our webinar -- How to protect yourself against scammers -- to learn how to protect yourself, your breeding program, and your puppy buyers from online scammers and what steps you can take to hold scammers accountable in the event you or your breeding program is targeted.

3. I am being harassed or bullied on Facebook. What can I do?"

There are a number of actions you can take to protect yourself using the Facebook platform.

First, you can report the offender's profile following these steps:

  • Go to the profile you want to report
  • Click the three dots to the right and select Find Support or Report Profile
  • To give feedback, click the option that best describes how this profile goes against Facebook’s Community Standards, then click next. Note that one of Facebook’s community standards is: Dignity - We believe that all people are equal in dignity and rights. We expect that people will respect the dignity of others and not harass or degrade others
  • Depending on your feedback, you may then be able to submit a report to Facebook. For some types of content, Facebook will not ask you to submit a report, but will use your feedback to help its systems learn. Click Done

Second, you can block the offender's profile. Once a person is blocked, they are no longer be able to:

  • See things posted on your Facebook profile
  • Tag you in posts, comments or photos
  • Invite you to events or groups
  • Start a conversation with you
  • Add you as a friend

Finally, we also recommend that you:

  • Document and save offending behavior. You can print or take a screenshot and save it so you can include it in your report and/or in case you need it later
  • Avoid engaging or retaliating because this is oftentimes what online bullies are looking for
