Meet the breeder

I'm Sherry L., the breeder behind 30 Acre Woods Dachshunds located in Big Rapids, MI. We are pet owners first and foremost. All of our puppies are raised as members of our family until they’re ready to join yours. We are a small in-home breeder of AKC Mini Dachshunds with spoiled, health and color-tested parents who are bred for health and temperament. Our dogs live with us in the home and are a part of our loving family. All puppies are raised in the home, vet checked, wormed, vaccinated, and are beginning their house training. They will come to you preloved!

Q. & A. with Sherry

  • Why did you start breeding?

I fell in love with the breed when I had dachshunds in my 20's. I have had Great Danes throughout the last 25 years but really missed having lap size dogs. My husband got me 2 beautiful dachshunds a few years ago and that reignited my passion for them. After health testing I began my program.
  • What makes your program special?

Our dogs are raised in the home with us and are part of our family. They are shown love at all times. Temperament and health are very important to me. I'm very dedicated to my dogs and breeding program. Also cleanness is a must for the wellbeing of my fur babies!
  • What are the different breed sizes in your program?

Our puppies are miniature size. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat types in your program?

Our puppies have longhaired coats. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include cream, black and cream, chocolate and cream, chocolate and tan, and dapple. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

We just brought our Missy (formerly Chrissy Robin) home and already love her so much! 😊 Sherry was truly amazing to work with from start to finish. From her Good Dog and Instagram pages, it was immediately clear how much she loves her puppies and how well she cares for them. I reached out before the litter was even born, and she got me on the waitlist right away, keeping me updated throughout. Once the puppies arrived, she sent weekly photos and videos that made the whole experience feel so personal and exciting. I looked forward to their weekly “birthdays” just to see the adorable photo shoots Sherry put together—complete with little bows, hats, and collars. The photos she took with her professional camera were absolutely heart-melting. Sherry was always quick to answer questions and provide updates, and it’s clear how deeply she cares about the puppies she raises. When it came time to bring Missy home, she kindly offered to meet us closer to where we live, which we were so grateful for. She also sent us home with a thoughtful basket full of helpful items to make her transition to our home go smoothly. Missy is sweet, healthy, and incredibly well-adjusted—it’s obvious she came from a loving, attentive environment. We feel so lucky to have found Sherry and can’t recommend her enough to anyone looking for a wonderful breeder.🫶🐾🩷

We recently welcomed a beautiful puppy into our family from Sherry, and the experience has been wonderful from start to finish. From our first conversation, Sherry was kind, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about the care and well-being of her dogs. She took the time to answer our questions and helped us feel fully prepared to bring our new pup home. Our puppy came to us healthy and happy, a true reflection of the love and attention Sherry gives in those early weeks. He’s quickly become a beloved part of our family. He’s sweet, smart, and full of personality, and it’s been a joy to watch our connection with him grow. Sherry has stayed in touch since we brought him home, offering helpful advice and checking in along the way. We’ve really appreciated that extra support! Overall, it’s been a great experience, and we’re so glad we found Sherry. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her to anyone looking for a caring, responsible breeder!

I started my journey to find a new puppy on good dog because of the reputable breeders and easy to navigate website/app. Sherry from 30 Acre Woods was very helpful with any questions I had and quick to respond. You can tell that she loves her dogs and takes great care of them which is why I chose her as the breeder to get my little puppy from. After I chose my puppy I got lots of updates and information. Pick up day was easy and we couldn’t be happier with our puppy Henry. He is such a love bug and so friendly. I highly suggest Sherry as a mini dachshund breeder if you’re in the market for one!

We absolutely loved working with Sherry! From the very beginning, she was incredibly responsive and supportive, answering all of our questions with care and enthusiasm. Throughout the process, she kept us updated with weekly photos and videos of our sweet Chai, which made us feel so connected even before bringing him home. When it was time to pick Chai up, Sherry provided us with a wealth of helpful information and clearly had put so much love and attention into raising him. It’s obvious that Sherry is passionate about what she does—her puppies are well-cared for, socialized, and deeply loved. Chai is the sweetest little pup, and we’re so grateful to have him in our lives. We would 100% recommend Sherry to anyone looking for a wonderful and loving breeder. We’re already looking forward to the day we come back for Chai’s future sibling!
