Meet the breeder

I'm Sherry L., the breeder behind 30 Acre Woods Dachshunds located in Big Rapids, MI. We are pet owners first and foremost. All of our puppies are raised as members of our family until they’re ready to join yours. We are a small in-home breeder of AKC Mini Dachshunds with spoiled, health and color-tested parents who are bred for health and temperament. Our dogs live with us in the home and are a part of our loving family. All puppies are raised in the home, vet checked, wormed, vaccinated, and are beginning their house training. They will come to you preloved!

Q. & A. with Sherry

  • Why did you start breeding?

I fell in love with the breed when I had dachshunds in my 20's. I have had Great Danes throughout the last 25 years but really missed having lap size dogs. My husband got me 2 beautiful dachshunds a few years ago and that reignited my passion for them. After health testing I began my program.
  • What makes your program special?

Our dogs are raised in the home with us and are part of our family. They are shown love at all times. Temperament and health are very important to me. I'm very dedicated to my dogs and breeding program. Also cleanness is a must for the wellbeing of my fur babies!
  • What are the different breed sizes in your program?

Our puppies are miniature size. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat types in your program?

Our puppies have longhaired coats. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include cream, fawn (isabella), fawn (isabella) and tan, black and cream, chocolate and cream, chocolate and tan, and dapple. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

I am so grateful to have found Sherry on Good Dog! She was incredibly communicative, answered all my questions and sent weekly updates with photos so were able to be a part of Belgie's life from early on. Our experience working with Sherry was 10/10 and I would highly recommend her to others! Belgie has adjusted incredibly well over the last week since we picked him up, which I think is a true testament to the love, care and attention Sherry provided during his early puppy-hood. Now he's crate training well, loves meeting new people, is potty training excellently and overall he's just a happy little boy. We could not be happier with our new family member and I'm confident that anyone who chooses Sherry in the future will have an equally pleasant experience.

We had such a wonderful experience working with Sherry. She was incredibly communicative throughout the entire process and clearly cares so much about finding the right homes for her puppies. As first-time puppy owners, we had a lot of questions, and Sherry made everything feel smooth, supportive, and stress-free. She was always willing to answer our questions and made sure we felt confident bringing our puppy home. My husband and I are already completely in love with our sweet boy, Frankie, just two weeks in. We’re so grateful to Sherry for raising such a well-loved puppy and for guiding us so thoughtfully through this experience. We highly recommend her!

From the very first message, Sherry made the entire process feel so personal and reassuring. Every question and concern I had was answered thoroughly, and I never felt like I was bothering her. The weekly updates, pictures, vet visits, and any cute videos made the wait so much easier and really showed how much she cares about her puppies. Penelope is an absolute joy. She came to us happy, healthy, and adapting beautifully to her new home and fur siblings. Knowing that health testing was done on both parents gave me real peace of mind, especially as someone who does a lot of research on dachshund health it tells me everything about how seriously this breeder takes the long term wellbeing of the breed. If you’re looking for a breeder who is communicative, transparent, and genuinely passionate about placing healthy, well loved puppies into the right homes, look no further. We are so grateful for our little Isabella girl and will definitely be getting out next doxie from her!🐾
