Meet the breeder

I'm Sherry L., the breeder behind 30 Acre Woods Dachshunds located in Big Rapids, MI. We are pet owners first and foremost. All of our puppies are raised as members of our family until they’re ready to join yours. We are a small in-home breeder of AKC Mini Dachshunds with spoiled, health and color-tested parents who are bred for health and temperament. Our dogs live with us in the home and are a part of our loving family. All puppies are raised in the home, vet checked, wormed, vaccinated, and are beginning their house training. They will come to you preloved!

Q. & A. with Sherry

  • Why did you start breeding?

I fell in love with the breed when I had dachshunds in my 20's. I have had Great Danes throughout the last 25 years but really missed having lap size dogs. My husband got me 2 beautiful dachshunds a few years ago and that reignited my passion for them. After health testing I began my program.

  • What makes your program special?

Our dogs are raised in the home with us and are part of our family. They are shown love at all times. Temperament and health are very important to me. I'm very dedicated to my dogs and breeding program. Also cleanness is a must for the wellbeing of my fur babies!

  • What are the different breed sizes in your program?

Our puppies are miniature size. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • What are the different breed coat types in your program?

Our puppies have longhaired coats. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include cream, fawn (isabella), fawn (isabella) and tan, black and cream, chocolate and cream, chocolate and tan, and dapple. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

From our very first interaction, you can tell Sheri really cares cares about her pups. She sent great updates minimally every week sometimes more including information on how they were doing, health check ups, and adorable pictures. We have only had our little Izzie home for less than a week and she has adjusted amazingly, it really shows how much care and effort was put into her time at 30 acre woods. We would really recommend Sherry and 30 acre Woods to anyone.

When we got Pistachio, we could tell he was very loved! He is such a sweetie and very handsome. Sherry also sent us home with helpful supplies and resources.

We had such an amazing experience with Sherry! You can truly tell how much she loves and cares for her dogs and puppies which meant so much to us. She has been incredibly kind and communicative, always answering our questions and keeping us updated with weekly photos, extra pictures, and videos of Stella. She even helped coordinate everything with our flight nanny when she didn’t have too, which was such a huge help. Since Stella came home, Sherry has continued checking in and loves getting updates on her, which shows how much she truly cares even after her puppies go home. Stella is the sweetest little girl, adjusted so quickly, and is already doing amazing with potty training! We couldn’t be happier with our Stella or our experience with Sherry. I’ve already recommended her to others and absolutely would again! 🥰💕

I am so grateful to have found Sherry on Good Dog! She was incredibly communicative, answered all my questions and sent weekly updates with photos so were able to be a part of Belgie's life from early on. Our experience working with Sherry was 10/10 and I would highly recommend her to others! Belgie has adjusted incredibly well over the last week since we picked him up, which I think is a true testament to the love, care and attention Sherry provided during his early puppy-hood. Now he's crate training well, loves meeting new people, is potty training excellently and overall he's just a happy little boy. We could not be happier with our new family member and I'm confident that anyone who chooses Sherry in the future will have an equally pleasant experience.
