Meet the breeder

I'm Rhiannon D., the breeder behind A Walk In The Park located in Neosho, MO. My program focuses on health, temperament, and conformation. We participate in UKC and AKC conformation as well as MPBA and Pinnacle K-9 events for continued education. All of our dogs are health tested and loved like family.

Q. & A. with Rhiannon

  • Why did you start breeding?

My family has always loved dogs and animals. When I was little, I went back and forth on being a dog breeder like my mom or being an artist, also like my mom. Now, I do both! Whenever I first saw a dachshund as a kid it was love at first sight, and I knew that I wanted to share their joy and light with the rest of the world, through art, and protect and preserve the breed, through breeding.
  • What makes your program special?

Our program is one of the only dachshund programs on Good Dog that extensively health tests our adults through the OFA. We focus on ending the shelter and rescue crisis one purpose-bred puppy at a time, by ensuring we have healthy, health tested puppies, and selling only on a contract that requires our pups never go to a rescue or shelter.
  • What are the different breed sizes in your program?

Our puppies are miniature size. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat types in your program?

Our puppies include smooth and longhaired coat varieties. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include piebald, sable, cream, red, wild boar, black, chocolate, fawn (isabella), brindle, fawn (isabella) and tan, blue and cream, chocolate and tan, chocolate and cream, blue and tan, fawn (isabella) and cream, gray (blue) and cream, black and tan, black and cream, gray (blue) and tan, wild boar and cream, wild boar and tan, and dapple. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

They live in my home and a kennel on my property.

I could not be more pleased! I searched far and wide for a breeder with this level of health testing, pedigree, and temperament requirements; finding Rhiannon and A Walk in the Park was a dream come true. Rhiannon was communicative, kind, knowledgeable, and so fun to work with! Helmut is everything I ever dreamed of; exceptional in his socialization, fun, smart, perfect conformation, and a love bug. Could not recommend Rhiannon and WITP more!

We had a great experience with Rhiannon from start to finish. I asked for pictures and photos and she sent them to me weekly. She also was very helpful with any questions that I had asked. I also like the fact that she wants us to keep in touch with her and give her updates on our puppy. She gave us background history on not only mom and dad, but their bloodlines as well. We will definitely get into contact with her if we decide on another doxy in the future.

Rhiannon was amazing to work with! She was very responsive throughout the whole process! We feel like she set us up for success raising our new puppy. We have been on the fence for years about getting a new puppy, but once we started working with her, our minds were set at ease. She was so easy to work with and the advice she provided was instrumental. Highly recommended! We plan to add another addition to our family in the future and we wouldn’t hesitate to work with her again! 😊

I had the best experience with Rhiannon! From start to finish, she made the entire process so easy and stress-free. The payment process was seamless, and she was incredibly responsive to all of my questions, even after I brought my new puppy home. When Pennie (formerly Angelina) arrived, she came with everything she needed, and it was clear how well cared for she had been. Rhiannon was also so flexible and helpful throughout the whole journey. Pennie is the perfect puppy, and I couldn’t be happier with my choice to go with Walk in the Park Dachshunds. Highly recommend!
