Q. & A. with Carrie
Why did you start breeding?
It started with the love of one dog Barnabas that left a huge hole and will always be missed. Then came Harley and with her friendly loving personality and calming effect on one of my daughters she has fit right in. A friend and fellow breeder encouraged me to have her health tested and to breed for temperament and health.
What makes your program special?
We are a small family oriented breeding program that focuses on dogs that will be enjoyed by other families. Striving to keep the herding instinct alive and well but also dogs that can enjoy cuddling with their people and not always on the go. We want children to be able to enjoy time with our dogs and for the dog to not feel bored by not running sheep or trials. These are medium drive dogs.
What are the different breed coat types in your program?
Our puppies include smooth and rough coat varieties. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include blue merle, white and red, and white and gold. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

Parent health testing
Breeder-Reported Testing
Great level
Abundant Victories reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for Border Collies.
Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Animal Genetics Panel, Collie Eye Anomaly (CEA)
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
Health testing is one key piece of responsible breeding and is performed on breeding dogs to prevent the presence of heritable conditions in their puppies.
