I'm Alex C., the breeder behind Acadia CanineTM located in Kingston, NY. At Acadia Canine, we are dedicated to producing exceptional Dutch Shepherds of the highest quality. Our breeding program goes far beyond the basics — every dog is put through a rigorous screening process, including PennHIP evaluations and comprehensive genetic testing for over 239 potential hereditary health conditions. As of today, all of our breeding dogs have been fully cleared of any genetic health anomalies, ensuring that our puppies are not only healthy but also carry the strongest foundation for future generations. Every one of our dogs is 100% FCI-registered Dutch Shepherd — we do not breed BRN dogs. This means that when you choose an Acadia Canine puppy, you are getting a pure, top-quality Dutch Shepherd with full FCI registration, the same caliber of dog that is highly sought after worldwide and rarely available in the United States. When you invest in an Acadia Canine Dutch Shepherd, you are investing in health, lineage, and unmatched quality.

Dutch Shepherd
About Bella
**Bella** is a 65 lb., brindle Dutch Shepherd with exceptional drive, speed, and working ability. She is confident, courageous, highly intelligent, and trained in both obedience and protection, embodying everything a true protection dog should be. Her steady nerves, resilience, and instinctual working ability set her apart as a superior example of the breed. To further enhance her strengths, Bella was carefully matched with **Holland Vato Loco v. Le Dobry**, a proven IGP competition dog from **Le Dobry Kennel** in The Netherlands. Under the guidance of renowned breeder Jack Steinstra, Le Dobry has been producing genetically sound, health-tested Dutch Shepherds of the highest quality since 2000, ensuring Bella’s progeny will be of outstanding caliber.

Great health testing
Great level
Acadia CanineTM reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for Dutch Shepherds.
Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Vet Wellness Exam
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
DNA Disease Panel
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
Health testing is one key piece of responsible breeding and is performed on breeding dogs to prevent the presence of heritable conditions in their puppies.
