Aleka Shih Tzu is a selective breeding program focused on raising well-balanced companions through thoughtful, responsible practices.   • Why did you start breeding?

    My path into breeding began with a deep respect for the Shih Tzu breed and a desire to do things thoughtfully and responsibly. Over time, that respect grew into a carefully planned program focused on health, temperament, and raising beautiful companions meant to be loved for a lifetime.

  • What makes your program special?

    What makes Aleka Shih Tzu special is our intentional restraint. We remain a small, carefully planned program so every puppy receives individual attention from birth. Our focus is on health, temperament, and long-term well-being, with thoughtful placement and open, honest communication throughout the process. Families are never rushed, and relationships often continue well beyond pickup. We believe quality, trust, and care matter more than volume, trends, or urgency.

  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

    Our puppies include tricolor, sable, chocolate and tan, chocolate, black and tan, black, liver, blue, red, black and white, blue and white, brindle and white, liver and white, and brindle. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Getting a puppy from Renee

Renee has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready, reach out to ask about the puppies or anything else on your mind. You’ll get to know each other through messaging, phone, or video and pay securely, all on Good Dog.

Renee partners with buyers to find the best match as the puppies develop and their personalities take shape.

Puppy prices include a $500 non-refundable deposit and between $1,500 - $3,000 final payment, before taxes & fees.

“Our pricing reflects the care, planning, and support behind each puppy. It includes a health warranty, AKC registration application, age-appropriate vaccinations and deworming, microchipping (trial), and early socialization. Puppies are placed as companions unless otherwise discussed. Deposits can be placed to reserve your spot in a litter or to secure a specific puppy. If reserving a spot, you’ll be invited to choose from the unreserved puppies available at your selection in placement order. If selecting a specific puppy, that puppy is reserved once your deposit is received. Availability may change as reservations are placed.”

Renee may provide a written contract or health guarantee when you purchase a puppy. This helps protect both you and your breeder, ensuring that you both have a clear understanding of the terms of your puppy purchase.     If you are looking for a Shih Tzu look no further than Renee at Alexa Shih Tzus. From our very first conversation I knew she was the breeder I would work with. She is very knowledgeable about the breed and answered all my questions. Because of travel plans that I had she kept the puppy I selected for a few extra weeks. I’ve had Toby now for 1 week and am absolutely in love! From the first night, he slept in his carrier with not a single whine and has slept through the night, not waking up until he hears me stirring. Toby is smart, funny, playful and an absolute doll. He loves car rides! He already is learning “come” and “sit” and although not perfect in potty training doing amazing for only being with me for a week. I am so happy to have found Renee and her darling Shih Tzu!
