I'm Renee L., the breeder behind Aleka Shih Tzu located in Richmond, TX. Our dogs are bred for health and temperament with a focus on companionship. We want to be certain that our pups go to loving new homes and live a life doing what a Shih Tzu does best; be a loving companion. Each new puppy will experience other adult animals, household noises, and grooming. We do all we can to prepare our pups to excel in life.

  • Why did you start breeding?

    Our love for Shih Tzu and their affectionate nature inspired us to expand the breed in a responsible way and share them with all of you! Our goal is to not only produce beautiful puppies but to help promote responsible breeding in order to ensure that the Shih Tzu will continue to thrive for generations to come.

  • What makes your program special?

    At Aleka, we produce excellent companions. We understand the importance of dog health, temperament, and structure, and every breeding decision is made accordingly. We are also constantly improving our breeding program and work closely within the Shih Tzu community to do so. We hope our puppies bring lasting joy and love into your homes!

  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

    Our puppies include tricolor, sable, chocolate and tan, chocolate, black and tan, black, liver, blue, red, black and white, blue and white, brindle and white, liver and white, and brindle. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Getting a puppy from Renee

Renee has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready to reach out, feel free to ask any questions about the breed, their program, or specific puppies.

Together, you’ll choose the puppy that’s right for you, stay in touch with regular updates, and plan how to bring your new puppy home.

Price

Puppy prices include a $500 non-refundable deposit and between $1,000 - $2,500 final payment, before taxes & fees.

“The price also includes the health warranty, AKC registration application, first round of vaccine and deworming, microchip (trial) and socialization. All pups are pet only unless otherwise discussed. The non refundable deposit is to hold a spot on the wait-list or to reserve your selected puppy. The amount will be deducted from final cost of puppy. Please do your research and make certain that you are ready for a new puppy before placing a deposit.”

Renee may provide a written contract or health guarantee when you purchase a puppy. This helps protect both you and your breeder, ensuring that you both have a clear understanding of the terms of your puppy purchase.     If you are looking for a Shih Tzu look no further than Renee at Alexa Shih Tzus. From our very first conversation I knew she was the breeder I would work with. She is very knowledgeable about the breed and answered all my questions. Because of travel plans that I had she kept the puppy I selected for a few extra weeks. I’ve had Toby now for 1 week and am absolutely in love! From the first night, he slept in his carrier with not a single whine and has slept through the night, not waking up until he hears me stirring. Toby is smart, funny, playful and an absolute doll. He loves car rides! He already is learning “come” and “sit” and although not perfect in potty training doing amazing for only being with me for a week. I am so happy to have found Renee and her darling Shih Tzu!
