Meet the breeder

I'm Rose A., the breeder behind Alexander Canines located in Liberty, SC. We breed Miniature Australian Shepherds with love and care. Our dogs are well-groomed, well-fed, and happy.

Q. & A. with Rose

  • Why did you start breeding?

My Grandpa raises dogs in Mississippi. I have always been interested in animals, especially dogs. My special dog tragically died, and my grandpa took the opportunity to not only encourage me but to set me up with a female, and providentially, a friend gave me a male. My grandpa has walked along with me in raising them, teaching me so much, and answering countless questions. Learning from him has been a real blessing, as he has a lifelong experience raising dogs. Since then, I have been breeding the two and raising puppies. I also sell puppies for my Grandpa as he is getting up in years, and it is a way I can return all the help and love he has given me.
  • What makes your program special?

I keep my dog business small so I can give each dog and puppy the attention they deserve. Their pens are cleaned daily, they get fresh water and comfortable bedding, and they are allowed to roam freely on the property. It is a rare instance if I am outside that I do not have a couple of the dogs or a whole litter of puppies following me. :-) We love and socialize with them, ensuring they are well-cared for and will make wonderful dogs for their future families and ours.
  • What are the different breed sizes in your program?

Our Miniature Australian Shepherd puppies are miniature size. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our Miniature Australian Shepherd puppies include blue merle, black tri, red tri, and red merle. Golden Retriever puppies include dark golden, golden, and light golden. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

We had an amazing experience getting our puppy from Rose! From the very beginning, she was knowledgeable, professional, and truly cared about the well-being of her dogs. She provided us with detailed health records, socialization updates, and was always available to answer any questions we had. Our puppy, Kodi is happy, healthy, and well-adjusted, which is a testament to the love and care Rose puts into her breeding program. We highly recommend Rose to anyone looking for a well-bred, loving companion. Thank you for giving us such a wonderful addition to our family!

I recently had the pleasure of working with Rose at Alexander Canines to adopt our miniature Australian Shepherd, Tyler, at 10 weeks old. The experience was outstanding from start to finish. Tyler is an incredibly loving and playful addition to our family, fitting in perfectly with our other dogs. Rose was extremely responsive, polite, and professional throughout the entire process. Her extensive knowledge about the breed and her helpful tips for new Mini Aussie parents were invaluable. I highly recommend Alexander Canines and hope your experience with Rose is as pleasant as mine was.

Couldn’t be happier with our little guy! He’s the sweetest and super smart. Our puppy came potty trained which has been a HUGE blessing as it makes focusing on all the other challenges that come with a puppy much easier. Rose made this entire experience super easy for us, even after we brought our puppy home. Her response time is super quick and she’s super easy going and extremely knowledgeable. You can tell she loves what she does and puts a lot of effort and passion into these puppies. If you’re licking for an exceptional breeder then you have definitely found the one! Thanks again for our sweet boy

Ranger has been a great addition to our family! Rose was very responsive to our initial inquiries and accommodating to our schedule for visiting and picking up our puppy. She was very knowledgeable and able to answer all the questions we had during the initial visit. Ranger was well-cared for by her and has transitioned easily into his fur-ever home.

My wife Kaye and I wanted to thank you for our marvelous pup. You advertised him as "Hunter" but I believe you originally called him "Ben". We have named him "Jasper" and the name fits. Jasper Shadow is 10 months old now and 30 pounds of solid muscle and incredible energy. The most common comment we receive from others is, "What a handsome dog!" They point out the beautiful markings inherited from his mother and the copper tint of his brown markings inherited from his dad. He is such a good representation of the breed-- smart, fast, loyal, companionable, sensitive, and downright sweet, (although like every dog he does have his moments). Even though he was considered the "runt" of the litter (ninth pup of nine) he has grown like a weed and as mentioned before is now 30 lbs, and appears to still have room to grow. Thank you again for providing such a great dog. Kirby and Kaye Williams Fort Lauderdale, FL
