I'm Meghan S., the breeder behind Alpine Collies located in Eminence, KY. With Health, temperament, and conformation at the forefront of our program. We offer wonderful dogs for various sectors, from family pets, to show dogs, and sport prospects. Our collies are all health tested, AKC registered, and socialized from day 1.

Why did you start breeding?
My grandma was a collie breeder, and I remember seeing some of the way she did things and absolutely not loving it lol. I wanted to strive to do better, better for the dogs, for the families getting puppies, and for myself.What makes your program special?
I have ensured all of my dogs have one thing in common- natural herding instinct. I see more collies in the show pen, and on a couch and feel like we’ve lost touch with what they were originally made for. So while I’ll maintain the collies beauty in comformation, sweet expression and wonderful family dog, I will also have capable working dogs.What are the different breed coat types in your program?
Our puppies have rough coats. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include sable merle, blue merle white and tan, blue merle and white, black white and tan, sable and white, and blue merle. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.
Getting a puppy from Meghan
Meghan has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready, reach out to ask about the puppies or anything else on your mind. You’ll get to know each other through messaging, phone, or video and pay securely, all on Good Dog.
Meghan partners with buyers to find the best match as the puppies develop and their personalities take shape. Typically, matches are finalized when the puppies reach about 12 weeks old.
“Puppies are matched with families based off the families needs, and wants. Families do not get an outright choice on a puppy, while I maintain wants (like color and gender) I will always ensure the puppy has the perfect personality for the family based off what their family needs from a dog. This way, I ensure the best possible outcome for both parties.”

Parent health testing
Excellent level
Alpine Collies reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for Collies.
Hip Dysplasia (rDVM, not registered)
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow Dysplasia (rDVM, not registered)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Eye Examination (rDVM, not registered with OFA)
Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.
Cardiac Evaluation (rDVM, not registered with OFA)
Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.
Vet Wellness Exam
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
DNA Disease Panel, Dermatomyositis, PRA, Rod-Cone Dysplasia 2 (rcd2), Multiple Drug Sensitivity (MDR1)
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
