Amanda Tsoi - Golden Maltipoo Pups

Now that the puppies are getting so much faster, more curious, adventurous, and independent, outdoor play required an upgrade! I spent some time fully puppy-proofing our backyard to make sure there are no sneaky little escape routes where an adventurous pup could slip away from us. On that note, I wanted to share a couple of pet safety tips that give us immense peace of mind: • Microchipping: Maggie is microchipped, and I highly recommend this for all of your new pups as a permanent, lifetime safety net. We had hers done at the local humane society. • AirTags on Collars: We also keep an Apple AirTag on Maggie’s collar. Having that real-time tracking right on our phones offers such incredible peace of mind. I can't recommend it enough for added security as your pup grows! You can also make the collar beep! Now all I need is that voice translation collar that the dogs wear in the movie Up! 🏠 🎈 😉

Arrow (now officially called Theo!) had his follow-up vet appointment today, and he got a 100% full health clearance! 🎉 We couldn't be happier with how smoothly he bounced back. The pups officially turned 7 weeks old today, and we celebrated by expanding their pen space to give them plenty of room to run and play. We’re also celebrating by starting potty training (we know how to party!)! We set up four distinct “functional zones” (Sleeping Zone, Feeding Zone, Active Play Zone, Potty Zone) and are strategically escorting post-nap pups to the Potty Zone. We’ve been expanding their taste buds with some delicious new foods including sardines, pear, and apple. For afternoon teething treats, they’ve been loving frozen bell peppers, carrots, and cucumbers, which do wonders for soothing those growing gums. Plus, as a mom, I’m inherently happy whenever I can sneak in a vegetable!

Sorry for the delay in updates - we’ve had such a busy schedule lately! Friday morning’s playtime got cut short by the rain, but the pups enjoyed their very first experience of it! We left them home alone (with puppy cams on) for a bit on Friday afternoon, and they were such an adorable sight when we walked back in the door. Their pen is set up so they all rush around the corner and coo at us - all of us mutually excited to see each other after only an hour apart, haha! Arrow is such a trooper! He took a tumble Friday night, but he has recovered like an absolute pro! We’ve kept him apart from his rambunctious siblings just to make sure he didn’t get jostled around too much, which is why he’s missing from some of the Saturday play videos. He was able to rejoin them for part of Saturday afternoon and for evening snuggles in the pen. He is loving all the extra cuddle time and will be rejoining his siblings full-time very soon! It was such a joy to meet with each of you on Saturday for Selection Day! These puppies are like our little babies, and we are so thankful that they are going to such wonderful homes. 💝

Today we continued working on probiotic exposure, gut health, and giving the puppies plenty of space to run, play, explore, and build their confidence! Despite all the toys we have (and just like my kids), their favorite toy is the cardboard box it came in. 📦 💝

We officially kicked off our first mini-training session today with the Recall Game 🎓 Six weeks is a great time to start recall because puppies naturally have a strong "follow" instinct and peak brain plasticity, making them eager to run toward you before independent exploration sets in. We are practicing brief 1-to-2-minute micro-sessions a few times a day using high-value rewards (a tiny piece of turkey goes a long way!). Once they head home, families can keep the fun going with short daily sessions, too. Our golden rule is to keep every recall experience purely positive (never calling a puppy over for something unpleasant) so "Come!" always signals a win!

The puppies are officially back in full turbo mode today, after their big day getting shots yesterday. Here is a video from yesterday as they were napping, and a photo from today of their playpen to show you the set up right in the heart of our home. Raising puppies in the main living space where they hear the daily hum of vacuum cleaners, kitchen chatter, footsteps, and family life is so important for their development. This early passive exposure helps condition them to everyday sights and sounds, laying the foundation for calm, confident, and well-adjusted dogs who easily adapt to their new families’ home environments! 🏡❤️

Puppy Weight Projections! 🐶📊 The vet weighed them today, but she has not emailed the official records yet. Here’s what our kitchen scale reads! I have been tracking their weights religiously (twice daily for the first three weeks to ensure each pup was growing at a healthy rate), so I entered the data into Gemini (Google’s AI) and here are its projections: “Across their full tracking history, I am drawing from over 150 individual weight data points recorded since they were born on June 23! Rosie (~11–13 lbs): Solidly tracking on the upper end of the litter. She'll likely be very close to mom's frame. Arrow, Bruno & Lizzy (~10–11.5 lbs): The middle group. They have maintained remarkably similar, parallel growth curves week over week. Parker & Gordon (~8.5–10 lbs): They are consistently holding at the lower end of the weight spectrum and will likely top out right around 9 lbs. For small doodle breeds, a puppy’s 6-week weight in pounds multiplied by 4 to 4.5 gives an accurate estimate of their full adult weight.
