I'm Dakota S., the breeder behind Americana Rough Collies located in Saint Joe, AR. Our dogs are DNA tested through PawPrints Genetics for CEA, DM, and PRA. We began breeding in 2022 and have since added tests through the OFA to ensure your Lassie can save you from inconveniently placed wells for many years to come.

Why did you start breeding?
Both of my grandmothers owned collies. My family and I made the joint decision to raise puppies and work towards the advancement of the breed after my paternal grandmother's passing. I've always loved "Lassie" dogs. They are beautiful in a rare way with interesting history. The collie has a devoted personality and does real-life examples of heroism I still hear about from owners.
What makes your program special?
My collies are raised with children, farm animals, and are health tested to ensure the best quality of life possible. I feed a mix of dry and wet food (Purina/Fresh Pet for older dogs, goats milk/ baby rice mix for puppies) and provide enrichment activity. Our dogs are family. We ask to keep in contact with you so we can watch them grow and ensure they are living a good life!
What are the different breed coat types in your program?
Our puppies have rough coats. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include black white and tan and sable and white. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home and a kennel on my property.

Getting a puppy from Dakota

Dakota has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready, reach out to ask about the puppies or anything else on your mind. You’ll get to know each other through messaging, phone, or video and pay securely, all on Good Dog.

Together, you’ll choose the puppy that’s right for you, stay in touch with regular updates, and plan how to bring your new puppy home.

Price

Puppy prices include a $200 non-refundable deposit and between $900 - $1,800 final payment, before taxes & fees.

“This price includes AKC registration applications, vaccinations and worming, and parental genetic testing. $1100 is the price for all puppies regardless of gender if without breeding rights as of March 2025. Your deposit lets us know that you are serious about us holding your pup without our dogs being passed over needlessly by new families. We will not accept your payment until you complete screening.”

Contract & health guarantee

Dakota may provide a written contract or health guarantee when you purchase a puppy. This helps protect both you and your breeder, ensuring that you both have a clear understanding of the terms of your puppy purchase.
