Meet the breeder

I'm Anastasiya S., the breeder behind Anastasiya's Dachshunds located in Pittsburgh, PA. My love for animals has been a part of me for as long as I can remember. As a child, I was always bringing home dogs, cats, hedgehogs, birds, and just about any creature that needed care. That deep bond with animals shaped my life and guided me toward becoming a veterinarian. I am so proud that my daughter inherited the same passion—she followed her dream and became a veterinarian as well. Before we began raising dachshunds, my daughter and I adopted two pit bulls from New York City kill shelters. They filled our lives with love and loyalty for 16 wonderful years. It brings us so much joy to meet loving families who are ready to welcome one of our puppies into their homes.

Q. & A. with Anastasiya

  • Why did you start breeding?

I have loved animals since childhood and always brought different animals into my home. From first grade, I knew that I wanted to become a veterinarian. I graduated as a veterinarian in 1998 in Russia. After immigrating to the United States in 2005, I worked as a licensed veterinary assistant, initially focusing on the care and rehabilitation of dogs and cats. After the loss of my two adopted pit bulls, I decided to welcome a miniature wire-haired dachshund into my life. I quickly fell in love with the breed. I brought my first miniature dachshund from Europe from a top breeder. Since then, I have been successfully showing and responsibly breeding healthy puppies.
  • What makes your program special?

Our puppies are raised in a home environment with regular exposure to children, helping them develop confident and well-socialized temperaments. All parent dogs are screened for the most common genetic diseases affecting miniature wire-haired dachshunds and have tested negative.
  • What are the different breed sizes in your program?

Our puppies are miniature size. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat types in your program?

Our puppies have wirehaired coats. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.
