I'm Joan F., the breeder behind Arizona Maltese Gems located in Phoenix, AZ. Our puppies are handled daily to become well rounded dogs. They are started on the Puppy Brain Training from day 3 of their lives. They are not only socialized but learn sensory skills, with lots of noise and obstacle experience. This training helps them as a start for becoming a service or therapy dog.

  • Why did you start breeding?

    I did it several years ago when my kid where young for my enjoyment and learning experience for them. My adult daughter got me back into it and I am enjoying it now more than ever.

  • What makes your program special?

    We do Early Neural Stimulation, Early Scent Introduction, Puppy Culture and Puppy Brain training methods used from day one. Puppies are Potty trained, crate trained, and doggy door trained. Service and therapy prospects. This makes for a well-rounded dog as they grow up, this training helps avoid the fear factor in most puppies.

  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

    Our puppies are white. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Getting a puppy from Joan

Puppy prices include a $500 non-refundable deposit and between $2,000 - $2,500 final payment, before taxes & fees.

Arizona Maltese Gems reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for Maltese.

  • Cardiac Evaluation (registered with OFA)

    Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.

  • Patellar Luxation

    Knee testing reduces the chance of passing down Patellar Luxation, which results in the kneecap becoming displaced or dislocated and can cause mild to severe joint pain.

  • Canine Good Citizen (CGC), Brucellosis

    A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
