Meet the breeder

I'm Shelby W., the breeder behind Aster Creek Dachshunds located in Windom, MN. Our dogs are bred to the AKC and UKC standards to the best of our ability. Temperament and Health are very important to us, as well as conformation. A whole package is what we aim for in our program. Our dogs are bred to have drive that is native to the breed as well as loving family pets.

Q. & A. with Shelby

  • Why did you start breeding?

I have spent all of my life being raised around and raising dogs myself. I was always raised with Dachshunds and a few other various other breeds as pets. This built a strong love for our dogs and a desire to continue spreading that love through breeding dogs for other people to welcome home.
  • What makes your program special?

Our puppies are raised in our homes with many hands-on. We use protocols from the program called Puppy Culture, Avidog, and many others. This helps make for well-rounded puppies so that they can leave me and become great companions for their new families. We raise our dogs to fit the breed standard to the best of our ability, taking in mind the need for health, drive, and temperament.
  • What are the different breed sizes in your program?

Our puppies are miniature size. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat types in your program?

Our puppies have longhaired coats. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include cream, red, black and cream, chocolate and tan, black and tan, and dapple. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

I had a wonderful experience with Shelby at Aster Creek Dachshunds. She was an excellent communicator throughout the entire process and clearly takes great pride in her breeding program. It’s evident she truly cares about her dogs and goes above and beyond to ensure they’re placed in loving, responsible homes. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a miniature dachshund from a breeder who is ethical, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate.

Shelby was responsive and answered all the questions I had. We could only pick her up on a specific day and even though she had previous plans that weekend, she made it work! She sent us pictures of our girl throughout the process and always responded in a timely manner. If we’re ever looking for another dachshund pup, we’d definitely go through Aster Creek!

Shelby was very responsive to messaging and providing updates on our puppy, Oliver including pictures which we loved receiving. She also provided information on the vet visit and his vaccinations. Shelby truly cares about the puppies and I was super impressed by the goodie bag that she sent along with us when we picked up Oliver! She even checked in us after we got home so you know she has a deep passion and that is something that we appreciate. I highly recommend working with Shelby and Aster Creek Dachshunds!

Our experience with Shelby was very positive. I was so impressed with Shelby’s response time to my questions. The love for her puppies is very obvious. We have had our little girl Lily for about a month. She loves to play, explore in the yard then snuggle with her family and her big brother Clark. I would recommend Shelby for a well socialized pup.
