Aumakua Border Collies

Lisa B.

Breeder of Border Collies

Meet the breeder

I'm Lisa B., the breeder behind Aumakua Border Collies located in Lake Stevens, WA. My focus as a breeder is producing healthy pups, with great temperaments, and instinct preservation as well as trainability. We do genetic testing on all the parents, as well as temperament eval and train puppies. Puppies are raised on Puppy Culture protocol and placed in forever homes by contract.

Q. & A. with Lisa

  • Why did you start breeding?

I got into breeding with Siberian Huskies. I had a couple of hobby litters in the 90s, then I had my first show litter and kept 3 of her puppies from a Multiple BIS GCH in 1998. By 2012 all the adored huskies had passed on. In 2012 we changed to Border Collies to get a more interactive experience with our dogs. This will be my first litter with Border Collies and quality preservation breeding.
  • What makes your program special?

I have been studying for the last seven years or so about the breed and learning about training, agility, herding training, show handling, and obedience training. Our dogs are family they live with us in the house. Our dogs don't live in a kennel. We don't place puppies in kennel homes. They all live as adored pets in forever homes as family. Puppies are co-owned by the breeder by contract.
  • What are the different breed coat types in your program?

Our puppies have rough coats. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies are white and red. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.
