I'm Mandy K., the breeder behind Baledwr Kennels located in Elk (Spokane), WA. I am a 2nd gen breeder, owner, handler and trainer. My past includes Shelties, Aussies, Pems and Ibizan hounds. I showed my first Cardigan for a breeder in 1989 and got my own in 1994. I added a Standard Wirehair dachshund in 2021. I show and train in conformation, rally, obedience and scentwork.

Why did you start breeding?
My mother bred and trained Shelties. When I turned 11, we got an aussie for me to do Junior Handling at ASCA shows and 4H. Part.of the.contract was showing. That led to several Aussies and litters. I got a pembroke at 14 for AKC, then my first cardigan was gifted to me by a breeder in 1994. While I have owned and trained many breeds, the cardis have been near to my heart the entire time.
What makes your program special?
Dogs are my priority and I feel we all deserve healthy and well adjusted pets. I have made many lifelong friends with puppy families and keep in contact for their life.
What are the different breed sizes in your program?
Our Dachshund puppies include miniature and standard sizes. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.
What are the different breed coat types in your program?
Our Dachshund puppies include smooth and wirehaired coat varieties. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our Dachshund puppies include wild boar and black and tan. Cardigan Welsh Corgi puppies include sable and white, red and white, blue merle and white, brindle and white, and black and white. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.

Getting a puppy from Mandy

Mandy partners with buyers to find the best match as the puppies develop and their personalities take shape. Typically, matches are finalized when the puppies reach about 8 weeks old.

Puppy prices include a $500 non-refundable deposit and between $2,500 - $3,500 final payment, before taxes & fees.

“Akc registered, microchips, health guarantee and lifetime breeder support. Puppies raised using ens, breeders bootcamp and puppy culture. Deposit is non refundable if you change your mine, except at my discretion for extenuating circumstances. If I do not have a puppy flitting your needs based on temperament, Deposit is refundable.”

After a brief hiatus, I have added standard dachshunds to my group of dogs. I do have Cardigan litters planned winter 2027 and fall 2027 or winter 2028.

About Wanda
Wanda is the most amazing dachshund I know. She has taught me so much about hounds and how extremely smart and stubborn they are! She is the guardian of my bed and the hunter of mice...I see field trials in her future. She is a Standard wild boar wire who finished her championship easily. She loves to chase the platic bunny (lure and fast cat) and the puzzles she gets to solve in nosework. Her singleton girl from her first litter is already pointed and started in performance training.

Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)
Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.
