I'm Dawn N., the breeder behind Barks and Burrows located in Coopersburg, PA. Miniature Dachshunds rule our hearts and home. Barks and Burrows is focused on raising happy, healthy, loving dogs. Our Miniature Dachshunds are part of our family and raised in our historic farm house in Bucks County, PA. Our dogs are great with children and larger dogs. They are used to loud noises, quiet periods, and plenty of lap time. These sweet, loyal dogs love nothing more than being your best friend.

Why did you start breeding?
Like many during the pandemic, my work became increasingly remote. One wonderful upside of this new work-life balance was my ability to work from home and have the opportunity to begin a well-run breeding program, providing a high level of care that our doxies and puppies deserve. We realize how fortunate we are to have these amazing dogs in our home and our lives. It’s never a dull moment, but we wouldn’t trade it for anything!What makes your program special?
To love doxies is to embrace their chaos, and we love our dogs. They are just such fun. We have a very dog-centered approach to our program. Their happiness and wellbeing is always paramount. We welcome and encourage our families to remain in touch if they would like, to utilize us as a resource for questions or concerns they have about their new additions. Litter update on 21 Dec. 2024 •Just finished up spa time. Freshly bathed and nails trimmed. Now it’s time to snuggle up in the cuddle puddle for a nap. 😴 💤💤

We were thrilled to meet Dawn on Christmas Eve day to adopt our beautiful pup Magpie (formerly Margo). We had left our choice open to meeting the pups before making our final decision. Magpie (the runt) dug her way to the front on the pack to say hello to us with lots of puppy kisses. She quickly won us over and it’s been so wonderful to have her in our lives ever since. Barks and Burrows is exactly as shown—a family run organization with well cared for parents and pups. Magpie is happy and healthy and playful. She’s a natural at playing fetch and was quick to pick up on wee pad training. She is bright, social, and funny. She is solid black with longhair—just like her mom! Her less common coat earns lots of “awws” wherever she goes. We could not be happier with Magpie and Barks and Burrows.
