Meet the breeder

I'm Vickie B., the breeder behind Baxter Family Pugs located in Checotah, OK. We are proud to offer our beautiful Pug puppies to loving homes! Our dogs are healthy and have great temperaments. We are a small, in-home breeding program where we prioritize giving each dog and puppy the best care that we can. We cherish all of our animals and enjoy sharing the love of a Pug with other individuals and families! All our puppies come as PET ONLY, no breeding.

Q. & A. with Vickie

  • Why did you start breeding?

Years ago a senior (17yr) Pug of ours passed away and we bought another and little did we know we have purchased a sick dog. We spent lots of money and time trying to get her well. She passed at only 6mo!! That caused us to research and we found that she had PDE. We changed our lives and moved to the country and now breed healthy Pugs to share with Pug lovers!! Our first baby was born 2019.
  • What makes your program special?

We care so deeply for each and every baby. We stay in touch with all our buyers and watch these babies grow their entire lives. The time and attention that is given to these babies is shown from the moment you get them. They will come knowing a great schedule and sleeping well at night, they will be potty pad trained but also have a great understanding of outside potty.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include silver, black, fawn, and white. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

We got our puppy , Tucker from Vickie at Baxter Pugs. The whole process was so easy. She helped me every step of the way. Tucker is my third pug so I knew the breed and unfortunately my others were from a backyard breeder. I discovered that later and they were unhealthy their whole lives. It was important to use a good breeder this time and I was so happy to find Vickie. She agreed to keep Tucker an extra week so I could get things ready to ship to our summer home. It had been 12 years since the last puppy and I had forgotten so many things. She patiently answered my questions and frantic texts once I got back to Texas with him. She played videos and plane sounds for him so he would not be afraid when I flew back with him. She sent home a container with some of his food, a lovey that smelled like his momma, and some small chew toys. As he has grown we have kept in touch. She always loves seeing his pictures and videos. Tucker is about a year and a half now and he is the best puppy! Very healthy and loves every person. People tell me how handsome he is all the time. I know from my experience how important it is to have a responsible breeder. Vickie loves all her dogs and you can know any puppy you get from her has good genes and will be healthy and well adjusted!

Couldn’t be happier with our experience getting a pug from Vickie with Baxter Family Pugs! She made the choosing and buying process very easy for us! There was no pressuring and made sure to educate us along the way. She provided us with accurate answers and was quick to respond on any concern. A year later, she STILL checks up on how our pug is doing and so thoughtful! ☺️I would definitely recommend going through her!!!

Vickie helped me and my sister surprise our mom with her pug baby boy on her birthday. She’s very responsive and kept us updated with texts, videos, and pictures until it was time to take him home! Not even 6 months later my parents contacted her to surprise me and my sister with our own pug babies! She’s professional, honest, and loves and cares for each baby in every litter. She has a good heart and I’m so glad that I found her and took a chance. We have 3 pugs from Baxter Family Pugs and hoping to get a 4th very soon!

So let me just start off saying Vickie from Baxter Family Pugs is absolutely amazing. She was very understanding from a buyer stand point who just got scammed not by her. She would message me everyday giving updates. She told me I could face time, call, text her to see the puppies. She was very informative and giving advice along the way because the last time we had a puppy was 12 years ago. She still messaged to check in on Tootsie.
