I'm Alyssa Taylor S., the breeder behind Bayou d’ Elara Dachshunds located in Baton Rouge, LA. We are a small Southern AKC dachshund breeder focused on correct structure and stable, predictable temperaments. Our dogs are OFA health tested, carefully paired, and puppies are raised in our home with intentional socialization and evaluation.

  • Why did you start breeding?

    I grew up on a horse farm, where I learned the importance of certifications, structure, & family-bonded bloodlines. After purchasing my first dachshund, I fell in love with her temperament & build wanting to preserve those traits. I spent nearly 2 years studying before breeding her & from the moment she had puppies, I knew I wanted to responsibly share the same care & devotion with other families.

  • What makes your program special?

    Our breeding program is built around temperament, structure, and longevity. We focus on family-bonded lines, thoughtful pairings, and raising puppies in our home with intentional socialization. All breeding dogs are OFA health tested and genetic tested allowing us to preserve sound structure, stable temperaments, and predictable companions.

  • What are the different breed sizes in your program?

    Our puppies are miniature size. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • What are the different breed coat types in your program?

    Our puppies include smooth and longhaired coat varieties. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

    Alyssa Taylor is a very responsible breeder. This was a very smooth experience with everything that was needed was provided. She was always responsive and respectful when we were trying to choose the best puppy for our family. After we chose our puppy, she always kept in touch and kept us updated by text messages, videos, and pictures. She even FaceTimed us so we could see the puppy. We agreed to meet at a public location where we would pay for the puppy. This experience has been an amazing experience and the puppy is absolutely amazing. We can definitely tell that this breeder spends time with their puppies and are so loved in everything way possible.

    I had a wonderful experience with Taylor from Lee’s Legendary lines. She was a great communicator and answered promptly any questions that I had as well as being available after the adoption. The adoption was seamless and Cooper (that’s his name) is very sweet. She even sent me him with some toys food and a soothing stuffed puppy. I had an appointment with my vet the next day and she reported that he was very healthy. Overall it was a great experience. I would highly recommend this breeder!
