Q. & A. with Debbie
Why did you start breeding?
We started breeding Labradors in the late 90’s, with our first 3 chocolate Labs: Buddy, Nicki, and Sugar.
What makes your program special?
We breed for quality, health, and good temperaments. We give frequent updates of the pups, so you can see the growth of your new family member. We also send home “puppy packs” full of goodies, such as samples of the food we feed, toys, & more. Parents always are OFA certified (Excellent hips, normal elbows) and genetically tested with a full Embark panel that clears for over 150+ diseases.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include black and yellow. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

Parent health testing
Breeder-Reported Testing
Great level
Bayside Labradors reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for Labrador Retrievers.
Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Full Embark Panel, DNA Disease Panel, D Locus (Dilute) DNA test
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
Health testing is one key piece of responsible breeding and is performed on breeding dogs to prevent the presence of heritable conditions in their puppies.
