Meet the breeder

I'm Sharon H., the breeder behind Beaver Dam Mini Aussies located in Chesapeake, VA. We provide you with everything you need for success. You have support from us during and after you bring your puppy home. Our dogs are selected based on temperament, health, and breed standards. They are introduced to every aspect of daily life so they are ready to settle in from the beginning.

Q. & A. with Sharon

  • Why did you start breeding?

We were looking for an aussie and couldn't find one that was structurally sound and well cared for. We searched for months to find one that was healthy and well adjusted. We finally felt compelled that there was a need for a good breeder in our area and it would be fulfilling and rewarding for our retirement years. I had prior experience in breeding so I knew what to expect.
  • What makes your program special?

Our program is special because we really do care about our puppy families and the quality of puppies we produce. We are almost constantly with our dogs and puppies. They bring us so much joy. We will not hesitate to remove a dog from our program if they are not a good representation of the breed in standards, health and conformation.
  • What are the different breed sizes in your program?

Our Miniature Australian Shepherd puppies are miniature size. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our Miniature Australian Shepherd puppies include blue merle, red merle, red, and black. Australian Shepherd puppies include black, red merle, red, and black tri-color. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

They live in my home and guardian homes.

My miniature Aussie, Danikah passed away in February. I figured I would take some time with my 9-year-old Aussie, Rauri. After a month, my little family felt incomplete and I discovered the Good Dog app. As I was scrolling through the various puppies, I found a litter dressed in Western ware. Two of the females were named Cheyenne and Dakota. Five years ago, I moved from Wyoming to West Virginia. This litter reminded me of my former home and I immediately fell in love with Dakota. I prayed for a strong answer to move forward with the adoption. The next day, I woke to a giant rainbow outside my back door. Sharon was amazing with the adoption process when I wrote and told her that Dakota captured my heart. I followed the Beaver Dam Mini Aussies on Facebook and watched my little girl grow. When the day came to bring my girl home, I was presented with an incredible baby package full of toys, food and an adorable bed. Sharon and Larry showed how much they care for their puppies and take pride in their quality. Lyra is now settling in and I continue to communicate with Sharon on her progress.
