I'm Lisa L., the breeder behind Bellamies Labradors located in Lake County, IL. We are dedicated to providing each of our puppies with loving and caring forever homes. By creating an environment of health and harmony for young puppies, we believe we are able to give each little pup the very best chance to reach its potential, express its best character, and bring forth its greatest gifts in the relationship with itself and to its family.

Why did you start breeding?
We want to do our part to better the breed. Our breeding program strives to maintain the unique characteristics of the Labrador Retriever while placing an emphasis on producing puppies of superior health, temperament, and conformation. It has been an absolute joy of a journey, and we are so happy to be able to share these wonderful dogs with other loving families and individuals.What makes your program special?
We are enthusiastic about our program and look forward to advancing the wonderful qualities of the Labrador Retriever with a focus on health, temperament, and structure! We take great care with each breeding to ensure we are producing puppies that are excellent representations of the breed. Our commitment is to provide you with a professional and friendly puppy-buying experience; and that includes always having responsible practices when it comes to breeding, training, and rehoming our puppies.Where do your breeding dogs live?

Parent health testing
Good level
Bellamies Labradors reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for Labrador Retrievers.
Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)
Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.
Cardiac Evaluation (registered with OFA)
Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.
D Locus (Dilute) DNA test
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
