I'm Christina & Kent W., the breeder behind Bella's Babies located in Lostant, IL. We do not offer papers, either CKC or AKC our pups are family dogs with our attention being to the personality and healthy manageable size for everyone from Seniors like ourselves to young children and families. Our breeding prioritizes health & personality. We are not looking to breed show dogs.

  • Why did you start breeding?

    Christina's love of puppies and babies and the opportunity to teach grandchildren about puppies and their growth. But first and foremost it's the fun we have doing it!

  • What makes your program special?

    We endeavor to provide purebred Shih Tzu puppies with excellent health and temperament at a price point similar to rescue dogs. We were both very disappointed in how expensive rescuing had become and there are those who just can't take the risk of adopting a dog with possible health or personality traits the would not work for them. Shih Tzu is a breed more adaptable to modern life than typical.

  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

    Our puppies include tricolor, red and tan, black, brindle and white, black white and silver, and black and white. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Getting a puppy from Christina & Kent

Christina & Kent has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready to reach out, feel free to ask any questions about the breed, their program, or specific puppies.

Together, you’ll choose the puppy that’s right for you, stay in touch with regular updates, and plan how to bring your new puppy home.

Puppy prices include a $350 deposit and between $550 - $2,150 final payment, before taxes & fees.

Parent health testing

Bella's Babies reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for Shih Tzus.

  • Hip Dysplasia (rDVM, not registered)

    Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.

  • Elbow Dysplasia (rDVM, not registered)

    Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.

  • Eye Examination (rDVM, not registered with OFA)

    Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.

  • Cardiac Evaluation (rDVM, not registered with OFA)

    Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.

    Thank you Bella’s babies for blessing us with the most precious little girl-we have had her now for two weeks and we are just in love! We appreciated all of the updates from the time we met her at three weeks old (and we just knew we had to have her) until the time she was ready to come home at eight weeks old and become part of our family. All of the photos, videos and messages you sent us made us feel like we weren’t missing out on anything! We also did not expect the wonderful care package you provided with all of the things we might need to make our little newborn feel right at home.     We had such an amazing experience with Christina and Kent. They were incredibly nice and accommodating throughout the entire process. They kept us updated with photos and videos of our puppy, Maki, and were very flexible with scheduling our visit. It's clear that they put so much love and care into raising their puppies, which are all sweet, funny, and well-adjusted. We loved that they raise family dogs. This was perfect for our 1 and 3-year-old nieces, who instantly fell in love with Maki. We even got to meet the puppy's mom, dad, and sweet grandma, Bella! It was so special to see three generations of these wonderful Shih Tzus. Maki is the sweetest, sassiest, and sleepiest girl, and we can't get over how perfectly she fits into our family. We're all completely in love with her! We're so grateful to Christina and Kent for bringing this little girl into our lives and know that they'll be there for us if we ever need to reach out.     We've had an amazing experience with Kent and Chistina. I love how they vett thier applicants to ensure thier puppies go to good homes. My dad lost his dog 10 years ago and two years ago he finally said he was ready for a new dog. I found Dotty (now named Daisy) and showed her to my dad... he had a choice between two dogs and said immediately he loved Dotty. He insisted on her and no one else... as soon as I find out Dot was for sure available... I put a deposit down quickly. The process was so easy and so very secure (cause really I didn't know Kent and Christina from Adam). Eventhough Kent and Christina, I felt we're good folks... you never know. When I met the puppies for the first time, I knew for a fact they were good folks and could trust these pups were produced ethically. Thank you for allowing me to take our princess!
