I'm Linda G., the breeder behind Belmar Shetland Sheepdogs located in East Bank, WV. We focus on intentional breeding so that we can produce quality puppies that are excellent representations of the standard. When we bring a life into the world, we make sure it gets the best start possible. This includes proper health care and socialization for each puppy, but it starts even earlier than birth. We set our puppies up for success by carefully selecting the parents of each litter, keeping in mind factors such as health, temperament, conformation, ability, and drive. Our goal is to produce well-balanced puppies and find them loving, responsible homes.

A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
von Willebrand Disease III (vWD III), Dermatomyositis, Collie Eye Anomaly (CEA), Multiple Drug Sensitivity (MDR1)
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
