I'm Melissa A., the breeder behind Belridge Dachshunds located in Oak Ridge, NC. We raise our dogs with love in our home. We have high expectations for our pups and strive to pair each one with a loving family. In order to start our puppies off on the right paw, we begin training and socializing at a young age so they are set up for success in their new homes. We prioritize the health and well-being of each one of our puppies and follow all appropriate puppy health protocols.
Q. & A. with Melissa
Why did you start breeding?
I purchased my first dachshund 18 years ago just before my husband and I got married. A black and tan smooth girl named Bella. Bella was also just our baby, and never a breeding dog, but she sparked a love for the breed in both of us, and the rest is history!
What makes your program special?
We select top quality dogs for our program from only health tested, genetic tested, AKC champion and import lineage with the very best temperaments, to start. Our dogs live inside our home as a part of our family and are treated as such. Our puppies are raised with the very best care, as we take steps to expose them to early neurological stimulation from their third day of life.
What are the different breed sizes in your program?
Our puppies are miniature size. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include cream, red, chocolate and tan, black and cream, black and tan, and dapple. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.
